Good to hear from all of you!
Chris - I had to repeat weeks too in the original C25K, and now (looking at Friday's 20 minutes run) I'm wondering if I'll have to repeat W5 : )
Beth - good for you! Surprising your family with a 5K would be a great Christmas present for all of you!
Deb - Yep, I tried to do the C25K outside but I waited too late in the summer. Heat and humidity got so bad even in the early mornings that I gave up and headed to the Y's TM again. Sorry to hear about your fall and ankle injury. Ouch! And, honestly, I am nowhere near a 5K in thirty minutes. Give me 10-15 minutes more. I'm still slower than a slug, but my son gave me a hint to lengthen my stride which has really helped with maintaining my stamina but not necessarily with speed. I decided I was using more effort going up-and-down rather than forward; with my stride being just a tad longer, I did better. I think we're about at the same level, too.
Joanne - congrats on being a lifetime WW, on quitting smoking, and on beginning this. Yes, it's okay to walk! Walking does NOT mean failing. On other posts I've mentioned I had to repeat most weeks in the C25K program, even doing W5 and W6 three times. The initial 60 seconds run almost killed me; I thought the Y would have to carry me out on a stretcher, gasping for breath and dying. And my legs burned, burned, burned. About W4, I noticed i didn't feel my legs anymore. : ) When I complained about gasping for breath, other runners here told me that my lungs had to get in shape just like my legs did. I also have much more weight to lose (30# so far, 30 to go).
