5K by Turkey Day (Week 7)

I didn't see any C25k Week 7 thread started yet so here it goes...

W7D1 done.

Like W6D3, I ran for 3.1 miles but finished just under 30 minutes this time around. I plan on running the same distance or time for the remainder of the program since it doesn't seem to be so difficult to do. Good luck to anyone else doing Week 7 of the program!

HA! I started one at the same time as you. We should just use this one.

W7, D1 - I am going to try this again on Wednesday. I should have never ran after dinner. I only ran for 10 minutes and pretty slow. I'll be better prepared next time.

How's everyone else?

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 7)
I saw that you started the thread as soon as I hit submit!

I always wait at least 2 hours before running since past experiences taught me to be patient. Since I started the program I drink about 4 oz of ON protein powder mixed with water before stretching and running then drinking another 4 oz after the run and stretching.

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 7)
My schedule is all messed up. Tried doing W6D3 on Sunday at my Parent's house on the side of a mountain in Jersey. We don't have hills in Tucson so it pretty much killed me. I was only able to run 15 minutes - had to walk the rest. Planned on doing W7D1 today but as soon as i got moving i realized my legs were way too sore still from Sunday. I walked fast for 25 minutes and I'm just going to try W7D2 tomorrow. If I can, that gets me back on schedule.

How's eveyone else doing?

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 7)
I finished W6D1 yesterday afternoon. It was rough, but I think it was because I did it after work. I normally run first thing in the morning and it goes much better that way!!

Have you all signed up for your 5k yet? I printed out the registration for one on Thanksgiving day but haven't sent it in yet. Thanksgiving falls during week 9 for me since I had to repeat a week. I have been walking 5k every Saturday since I started C25K and have started to add a few short runs to the walk. Hopefully I will be ready...

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 7)
I ended up having to skip W6D3 last week but finished W7D1 yesterday, so I'm back on track.

I signed up for my 5k on Thanksgiving, so there is no backing out now!!

Anyone have any thoughts on what I should do the week of the race? I will finish C25K the week before and not sure what I should do the week of my first race.

w7d1 done - 25 min is the longest i've ever ran in my life! wow i felt good afterward!

there is a 5k i've been thinking about signing up for on dec1, but reg is $30 and that's kinda steep for us at this time of year, might wait for a cheaper one, lol...

Still behind, but hanging in there. W5D2 done, although I was very tight. Hopefully the tightness is highly correlated with the very stressful meeting I came out of.

I am thinking about attempting D3 tomorrow.

Hope everyone's week 7's keep going well--it keeps me motivated to hear everyone succeed.

Obviously with me so far behind, I'm not even considering registering for a 5K until late next spring. I look forward to hearing everyone else's race reports, however.

W7D2ish

Wow 25 minutes is hard. Started out way too fast because a large boxer was stalking us and i sped it up to get out of his sightline. Ended in a wheeze. Did a sprint for the last block just to see how it felt. Felt hard.

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 7)
Hey everyone. Nice to see everyone is continuing strong. When I left last week I had finished W6D3 on Monday. I went hunting all last week and returned on Monday.

I gave my legs a couple days to recoup from the hiking and I'm attempting W7D1 tonight. Wish me well.

W7D2 done.

Ran 3.1 miles in about 29:20 tonight. I started focusing on lengthening my stride and working on my form for a few seconds every so often during my 3rd and 4th laps around the lake.

W5D3 done.

Hopefully I'll get 2 runs in over the weekend and get myself down to only a week behind.

I'm glad to see so many people are doing well with week 7!

Chris - don't push yourself too hard, you will just get hurt and then you will be way behind. Doesn't matter what week you are on, so don't feel pressured to catch up.

Re: 5K by Turkey Day (Week 7)
Well, after a week off, W7D1 was pretty hard for me. I pushed through it, but I sure hope tomorrow isn't that tough.

Chris, don't worry about being a week behind. In a couple weeks, we'll all be doing 3 miles, 3 times a week anyway.

I can't find any 5Ks to sign up for in my area. I hope I don't have to wait until spring. I'm the kind of person that needs to be working toward a goal, and I don't know if I can't make a goal for spring. That's a long time.

W7, D2(?) - Done. I had a new playlist and got through it just fine. I am feeling much better about this. I had a moment of doubt this week, but I am so much more hopeful now. I just have be kind to myself and take it easy if I need to.

Keep it up everyone!
