Hey everyone, sorry I've been gone.
Rachel, glad you are back and things are looking up for your friend.
Tanya, thanks for getting us started on a new week.
I have been out of town for a few days. Here is the funny, IMHO, story. I shared a ride and a room with a colleague that is a good friend, but I don't get to see him much. He noticed that I looked a little better, and we talked about health, exercise, etc. I told him that I had been exercising regularly, but didn't go into details. For about an hour, he went on and on about how proud he was of me, how I was extending my life, how much better I looked, and all that. He was Mr. Encouragement.
After we got to the hotel, I put on my shorts and running shoes. He looked at me quizically and asked what I was doing. I said, "I'm going to the fitness room to run. That's what I do now, I run."
Immediately he panicked and said, "Oh, you have to stop that! It is so bad for you! You will kill your knees! You won't even be able to walk soon!"
I couldn't help myself. I started smirking. Then, it finally became a full blown belly laugh. He was really offended. I told him, "Look, you just spent an hour telling me how wonderful my new exercise program was, and now you want me to quit. Make up your mind."
He pouted. I told him it was okay, that I really did know what I was doing. I appreciated his concern, but it was really unfounded. I'm not sure that I convinced him, since we certainly didn't talk about again.
I think I like it in the running closet. It's just easier.
Anybody else have reactions like that from their friends?
