New runner starting

Hey folks-

New runner here, just getting started. I've run once in awhile for fitness, but I've been more of a mountain biker than anything. Winter is coming fast up here in Wisconsin, and in my particular case, the freezing cold air and my lungs don't really get along. I'm armed with the couch -> 5k podcast, a decent treadmill that I bought off a buddy of mine, and I'm getting some shoes Tuesday.

I'm looking for some tips for what to do on a treadmill (other than run...) while I'm working out. MP3s, Reading, I might get a TV set up down there. Anything else you've found to alleviate the boredom of staring at the wall? Trying to be pro-active against the boredom. :-)

I'm in ND and I know what you mean about the winter scaring you into running on the TM. I've been resorting to TM running alot more lately, too, mostly because it gets dark so early.

I'm almost through wk 6 C25K and I haven't gotten bored yet. I'm listening to the podcast by Robert Ullrey.

Running is a big stress reliever for me and I have no problem just zoning out and concentrating on breathing and my pace.

I know alot of people continue to run outdoors in the cold. I think I will probably wimp out and use the indoor track and the TM.

How about audio books?
