Re: Using GPS
With reference to % MHR, you can program alarms to tell you when your HR goes above or below a certain zone or a specific HR.

To expand upon this, my MHR is 193 and I programmed in my training zones as follows:

Zone 1: 113-138
Zone 2: 139-163
Zone 3: 164-181
Zone 4: 182-192
Zone 5: 193-199

So now I can specify to the device how I want to train. Right now I'm doing only base training so I set an alarm to go off if my HR exceeds 138 and it keeps bugging me until I get back in the zone. I also have one set to go off if I go below 130 so I don't get too lazy.

I just started using this feature and I really like it.

Re: Using GPS
Yes, it will give you alarms in different zones. It has a good HR monitor in it.
To elaborate the above post. Just the 305 with it's HR monitor. After rebate; you can get it for about $169.00. My foot pod and speed/cadence sensor upped my total to $250.00.
I like my foot pod. Have found I'm doing about a mile an hour at work. I don't notice it as much as I thought I would. Hardly know it's there much of the time. I do have to admit. I'm afraid it wouldn't cut it on very long runs for me. Might be wrong?

Re: Using GPS
I am STILL learning all the features of my 305!! (the info geek in me absolutely LOVES IT!) 'course, some of it is because I didn't know I'd want to know it till I got a little further along in my 'running career'!!

besides keeping track of what you did & where you go (gps functions) ~ plan what you're going to do ~ you can pre-program workouts on your computer to download into your wrist device, set up different view screens - like I prefer to see split pace/HR/distance 1st & screen over to time of day....
