Women, women, women in tights...alright I have finally added my pic to the map...in tights (without undies, of course). Peg, I love running commando as well and am so glad those days of constantly tugging and shifting are over!
I have plans on watching football today as well, but am watching the NYC marathon right now...those girls are so skinny and soooo fast! I love that it is televised (well, at least the abridged version!)

Well ... it was fun day watching and cheering at the NYC Marathon today - I had 2 friends running and despite doing a subway dash between 3 points on the course I managed to missed them both at all 3 points !

I did get to see Paula Radcliffe blast past at mile 12 - I am beyond thrilled she won - and watched the lead me go past the same point

I`m all inspired for doing this in 2009 ... if my hip ever heals .... ack !!

Hope you are all well

37 degrees this morning for my run. Long pants were required and I even had on a light weight pair of gloves. At first, thought I might have been over dressed but the few other runners I saw out this morning were similarly dressed. Just 2 easy miles out and then 2 long miles back into the wind. It was quite cool.

Monnik, I live in Rockford, Illinois. Actually, our house is only about 4 miles from the Wisconsin border. DH grew up in Wisconsin and I have been a Packers fan for almost forever. Hard not to be a Packers fan the past two games. Hopefully, they can keep it rolling.

Joe, were is your half marathon next weekend?

I envy those of you with cable who were able to watch at least part of the NYC Marathon. Must have been great.

Well, good runs to all this week. Joe, rest up for your race.

I may have to frequent the gym this week as it will be dark by the time I get off work. Hoping to continue running 5 days a week. Just now 3 of those days maybe on the treadmill with only my weekend runs being outside.

Morning gang! Colts lost an exciting game but the Cowboys won! Running 3 miles today. May just work half day today.

Alex - Very nice pic! Thanks for the detailed info too!

Sheila - Wish I could say the same about taking it easy after my HM next weekend but I have another mid-January!

Spicegeek - Cool that you got to see Paula! Hope your hip gets better soon!

Wbertha - My half coming up next weekend is in San Antonio, about a 3 hour drive. Keep those workouts up!

Joe

WOW, JOE - you're running the SA HM this weekend, eh? Enjoy & best of luck - can't wait to hear ALL about it & to see pics! Have a fantastic week with your goal in sight...

Hope all is well with the rest of you coolrunners...I'm sitting here with my knee propped up - feels better - plan to run with it wrapped tomorrow & see how it goes.

ADVICE, anyone?

Oh, BTW, found an interesting thread here in "newbie cafe" - sparked some good banter (sp?) - if interested, check out "How Oprah Ruined the Marathon" & post your view on this topic!

Back to work now...isn't the internet a great thing?

Happy day, virtual friends!

Hello, just noticed the thread for 1/2 Marathons so...

I'm planning on running the Green Bay 1/2 Marathon in May. My coach tells me I shouldn't have any problems with the race. I'm currently running 6-7 days a week with my long run on Sunday (yesterday 90 minutes-7-1/2 miles). Today I have an off day (bummer, I still want to run).
I'm glad to 'see' so many people training for races.

Hey guys! Popping in to say hello...

My daughter had mock trial today so I'm not in the office to post. But since I took the afternoon off, I'm going to go for a 4 mile run in a few minutes and kick back until the kids get home from school... Nice!

Back later to check in on everyone!

Good afternoon halfers, had an unscheduled day off from work yesterday. Ran 4 miles after church. It seemed quite warm where there was no shade. 74 F in the shade, needless to say I finished both water bottles before I finished. 5 scheduled for tonight. Off tomorrow.

Joe- HM this weekend! I am glad you are feeling better. Do you have a specific fueling strategy?

Peg- how was the party yesterday? Remember, as 1 door closes, 10 others open.

I watched the NYC marathon on NBC yesterday. It is sad that of the 37,000 participants the sports casters only saw 5 of them. We all know that the better stories where with the middle/back of the pack.

I also watched the PBS marathon challenge online. It was very inspirational. I must admit I watched it 3 times.

Spicegeek- I was wanting Paula to win, but I think the lady (can?t remember her name) that was 2nd may have injured something in the last mile.

Wbertha- the temps here have cooled off significantly also. Since the time change most of my runs will be during the night. I must practice dressing right since my half is in Jan.

Laurel- ICE! Ice immediately after the run/workout along with some advil will help with the swelling/soreness.

Kevin- welcome, I think GB ½ in May would be great. That is a good goal. You have a coach?

Monnik- hope your 4 was OK, and you relaxing afterward.

Good running
Stan

Blimey - How'd this thread get to 2 pages before I even got to post!?!

It was an easy 3.5 for me tonight without much drama (but still with fireworks lighting up the sky) - kept the tempo up to do it in 36:30 so pretty happy.

I want to try to do a 5m Wed (got my dance class and biking to it tomorrow), 4m thurs or fri, and then 8m long for sat. Also walking 2 miles 3 days a week now to work (well to the station) so that should also help

Chuck - how was the car?

Monnik - sorry you had a bad run, but don't worry - we all have them... it was me last week so I know how you feel. how'd you go tonight?

Joe - good luck with the HM... take it easy this week

Laurel - how's the knee?

Spicegeek - cool that you saw Paula Radcliffe - she's an amazing woman

Kevee - How do you manage to run 6 / 7 days a week? I struggle with fitting 4 in!

Enjoy your evenings... i'm off to bed!

Hey all -

I'm back from my week off. I hardly even logged onto the computer because I was afraid I'd get sucked into something at work. I did manage to keep to my running schedule, and got a couple of nice runs in while I was in Orlando even though the weather was not too great. I'm back at work today (sigh!) and have spent most of the day clearing out emails so that I would stop getting the stupid message from IT saying that my mailbox is over the limit. Just bounce everything and then I won't have to deal with it (heh, heh!).

Today was a strength training day for me, and I finally got up the nerve to do the dreaded body fat analysis at the Y. So, drum roll, please! Back when I first started exercising at Curves, my body fat was a disgusting 49%, but today's analysis put me at 27.8%. Woo hoo!!!
