Yea Melanie for an outdoor run. I hate the TM! I give you credit for always using it. Although it is rather convenient...I love to run in fresh cool air over hot air too!

Cherrie- TOM that is the cause...must be...

Michele- Did you say SNOW? We had tons of rain today, but no snow. Sorry you're having an off day. Take it easy.

Ya - JHI posted! Have fun on your trip!! (like you wouldn't!)

I scanned the rest of the posts, and only remember Melanie running outside in the sleet! Good for YOU!!

Here's the report I posted - not my best effort - but it was fun:

5K Turkey Trot

1st Goal ? beat my PR of 28:45
2nd Goal ? anything better than 30 minutes

Fashion Report:

Mizuno Shoes (teal and white)
Black Brooks Thermal Pants
Maroon mock neck Under Armor Shirt
Black Under Armor Gloves
Black Pony Tail Hat

This race takes place at a middle school. You run through the woods, out onto the soccer field and around the perimeter of that and make the loop twice. I find it difficult to run on the wet leaves, uneven ground, etc. so I knew that beating my PR of 2 years ago was pretty iffy as that was a road race.

First mile ? 9:02 ? that is pretty darn good for me.
2nd mile ? 9:22 ? still faster than my normal (9:30ish) but I?m slowing down
3rd mile ? 9:26 ? about average
Now this is where it gets tricky. My garmin marked the 3.11 miles at 28:49 ? just shy of my PR. The actual mat time was 29:15 ? 3.17 miles.

Either way it was a fun race. I placed 4th in my age group. My neighbor ran this with me and placed 1st in her ?young? 24 year old age group! She won a cool turkey trophy.

Cheers!
~Mary

P.S. I won a door prize! 6" sub at Sub-Way!

Good Job Mary You are a speed demon for sure!!!! I would go with your own time. That's my two cents anyway. I bought a pair of UA thermal pants - They'll get tried out tomorrow on my long run (1 hour - however far that gets me)

Jhi - congrats on your PHD!!! I am visiting U of Maryland with my H.S. senior daughter and her friend......

Congrats to all of you on your races and times. I ran 3 miles today in the mid-30s but felt great with my new cold weather gear (see earlier post). I am going to run here tomorrow and Sun - just 25 min which for me is about 2 miles. I am doing the training program from the Nova Marathon special - not planning to marathon but I liked the schedule.

Best to all. This hotel is a little creepy but it is 5 min from the school on a main drag so I think it is okay. Off to read and surf the TV while my DD and friend are visiting a friend on campus -

Morning Michelle I hate it when it rains too heavy to run. Most of the time it isn't the rain, it is the rain/wind mix that does me in. I hate the rain hitting my face - if I can wear a hat and the rain does not hit my face I'm good. You said you have a date with the TM on Tuesday. Why Tuesday? or did I miss something. As for me, I'm doing a hour run today which should be around 6 miles. I was going to run around 8ish but since I've been up since 5:00 I'll run sooner and then get on with my day. Last night I went on Runnersworld and put in the 1/2 in March in order to get a training schedule. I'm thinking about it. I may look at a few other programs before I decide. I totally want to do a 1/2 but the one in New Bedford in March is considerd a very hard one so I'm a bit afraid. We'll see. I have time to train and decide as I go.

Lisa Enjoy the weekend with the DD and her friend. Creepy hotels are not fun though so make the best of it!! One time my DH and I went to Florida (he was a long haul truck driver at the time) and we stayed at some hotel. It freaked me out a bit and I made him find us a new hotel. Oh well, too many bad movies!!!

ok, I'm bored and working on my workout schedule so I'll share it. I'm totally open to suggestions/comments:

Sunday - 4 mile run on hills and yoga
Monday - Cardio Go Go (mixed aerobic class at the gym)
Tuesday - Rontell and 4 mile run on TM
Wednesday - Belly Dancing
Thursday - Rontell
Friday - 4 mile run (flat) and cardio kickboxing class
Sat - Long run - flat (most likely 6 or so miles)

I consider Wednesday a rest day since Belly Dancing is not a 'workout' for me.

Good Morning Cherrie - what's got you up so early? I've been awake on and off since 3 a.m.

Good luck on your hour long run today - I'm sure you'll get six miles in. I like the idea of aiming for a 1/2 marathon this spring. That will keep you motivated through the winter months. Check out the Hal Higdon training programs. I really like his stuff - his runs are easy to fit in on weekday mornings. www.halhigdon.com[/URL" target="_blank">

We went out for dinner last night and although I didn't overdo the dinner -actually brought some home - I had desert! Now I have to run it off. Kind of windy here today - hoping for a 2 hour run (11 or 12 miles) but we'll see. Suppose to go with the neighbor so I'll see what she's feeling up to. I only have 11 miles so far this week!!

Talk to you later!

Mary I've been up early every day this week - my silly body thinks that it is 5:30 when it is 4:30. I can't seem to break it. I will look at that web site - thanks. Good luck on your 2 hr run today and it doesn't sound like you did that horribly at dinner last night - you work hard and deserve to have desert!!!!

Michele I'm sorry you had a bad run today. Tomorrow will be better. I was running a mix of runs for awhile then this woman told me that in order for me to lose weight I should be running 45 minutes at a time. I figured it couldn't hurt so that is when it changed to 4 miles. Now, I'm running the 4 miles under 40 so I guess that theory goes out the window. I had thought about doing a slightly shorter run on the days that I'm doing other cardio as well. My long run on the weekend is about 6 miles and I don't think I can run longer than that yet. So, would that be a long enough run if I do a 5 miler during the week?

ok, like I said before I'm messing with my workout schedule so how does this one look:

Monday - Cardio Go Go class
Tuesday - Rontell and 4 mile run on TM
Wednesday - Belly Dancing (rest day)
Thursday - Rontell and 2 miles of speed work on TM
Friday - 4 miles flat on TM and Cardio Kickboxing class
Saturday - 6 mile long run - mainly flat

what do you think?

Cherrie- Looks like a good plan! Wow, when do you do laundry, grocery shop, etc? You must be very good with time management!

Michele- Cool. I didn't know you could set up a bike to be an " indoor" bike. That makes a nice workout. Pop on a movie, and ride away...

The rain stopped, but its still windy!

woohoo 6.24 miles in 60 min!!!! I had an average pace of 9:34. I feel really good right now too. I was warm and all with my new running gear. I think that I need to get med UA tights though, the waistband is rather loose and felt like it was falling while I was running. I got the large because the shirt had been so tight. Oh well,

Michele I think I like this plan better too although I didn't follow it today. Only because I really wanted to do a 'long run' and wanted to see how I would do. I too, can't wait to hear Mary's opinion. Good luck with your indoor riding!!!

Michelle I am one of those people that gets most things done in the early am before the rest of the world is up. Plus, it is only me and DH so that allows me the freedom to do things when I want. Don't have to worry about feeding babies and such!!!!!

ok, I have to go take a shower as we are going to a small gathering for a friend that is going in the service. See ya later...
