Hi everyone, did day one of the c25k with a co-worker this afternoon and then ran another 3 miles after she left. It was beautiful out/

Joe--Way to go on your half. Oh my gosh, I remember when I first started posting on this thread, you weren't even running at the time Remember Joewascool. Look how far we have all come.

Chuck--we are here for you, hope things get better for you soon.

I feel terrible that I never have time for personals to everyone, but gotta run get my daughter from cheer practice.

looks like everyone is doing great.

I'm kinda bummed though, I really want to do the indy 500 mini on May 3rd but can't find anyone in my group to commit to doing it with me. I have to sign up soon or they will sell out. Don't know what I'm going to do yet.

HEY EVERYBODY!

What a great bunch of "virtual" running buddies/friends you all are - it's so helpful to have each other's support - either about running or life.

CHUCK - OUCH! Don't beat yourself up - there's no magic "age" at which we attain peace - this journey is quite a learning process for all of us. Anyone that seems to have it all together is most likely lying to you or to themselves, anyway. That's my two cents...I am very sorry for your pain and predicament. Perhaps you will find a workable solution in the days ahead.

JOE - What's up? How ya doin' since the run? How's the ankle? Hope you're good!

PEG - Saw that you emailed my co-worker -- her husband will pass along your resume - keep me posted! How's the bathroom coming along? What exactly are you doing? We laid our own tile and faux painted our master bath a few years ago - took a long time - we didn't have a ton of time to devote to it - plus I was pregnant at the time (nesting? some of our best remodeling projects were during my 3 pregnancies!). ;-)

MONNIK - Hey, yeah, the Ben Gay can be insane! A little bit truly goes a long way, doesn't it? Hope your hip feels better soon! Do you have a car update yet?

RUNJR - How old is your daughter? I've wanting to get my daughter interested in running - don't know how young is too young, tho' (for shorter distances?). Anyway, thanks for asking about the knee - I began to notice some right knee pain on outer side of patella about 8-9 days ago - after running several days in a row. Since then, I've taken a rest day in between, iced, ace bandaged, motrin-ed, and most recently ben gay-ed the area. Definitely want to avoid a serious injury!

SIMON - Thanks for the advice too - I was totally surprised that my knee was OK for such a long run - I've been taking good care of it since then - keep me in check, though, please! You're from Zimbabwe - how cool! Some day I will visit Africa - I have friends from S. Africa, Nigeria and Zambia.

WBERTHA & CARA - I appreciate the well-wishes! Hope you are each doing well!

Hello, KATHYWING! How are you, new friend?

Good night to all - will get out for a 3.5 tomorrow a.m.

GOTTA RUN...

Just jumping in from another thread... after my 10km run on Sunday, I took yesterday off and today did an easy 3 miles. Just starting on my half marathon journey, and look forward to sharing success with you all.

Chuck, I haven't "met" you before, but thinking of you at this tough time.

Hey guys - morning all!

Chuck - sorry to hear about your situation. I do wonder if you're making it harder for yourself though by not giving it a complete break...? I know it's easier to say then do, but it may be worth taking a complete break for a couple of weeks and then see how you feel? I was in the same position when I broke up with my ex a few years back... I kept seeing him and it made everything harder - once I severed all ties I could deal with it and move on. Either that or you'll realise that you really do want to be together and make another go of it and try much harder with family issues...

KathyWing - congrats on your 8 miles. Sounds like you are in a similar position in your training as I am - when's your half? Don't worry about the pace - sounds like you're doing great to me

Simon - Yup i'm English... The 10K i'm going for is along Worthing Promenade. It's East of Lyme Regis, West of Brighton if that helps? Most the beaches in that area of the south coast are pebble but we love them anyway I'm more of a rugby girl than football so don't watch the premiership much

Monnik - how's the hip?

I did a 3.5 tempo run last night and it was sooo cold (well probably not for you guys but cold for me!) Made me run quick though as did it in 34:20!!! Woo hoo! I'm getting the terminology now... must be a real 'runner'

Hi to everyone else...
Happy Running All

Morning Gang! Back at work today.... pretty much did nothing yesterday... My quads and hip flexors are sore!! My ankle is feeling fine now. Thanks everyone for asking. Ya'll have been chatty are we are growing more!

Laurel - The way I'm feeling now, don't think a Turkey Trot is in the cards.... Oh, and you thought right! My race was on the 11th, Sunday morning!

Misswendy - How are you today?

Alex - Hi! How's that cold?

Julezc - How's your running?

Corrinabear - Hope you find time to run soon! Oh and thanks for the days off!

Runjr - Hope your daughter is feeling better today. Did you run in the 50F temps?

Cara - Thanks! Did you put that Ladies Only 10K on our calendar? Sounds exicting to me too! LOL Woohoo! Nice 3.5 mile tempo run!! Bet you must look like a real runner too!

KathyWing - The ankle is fine now. Its my sore quads now! LOL Congrats on your longest run of 8 miles! And welcome!

Monnik - Thanks! Yep that Cowboy Packer game should be a good one huh? How's your hip, did you do the 3 miles?

SimonR - Thanks, yes I do think it was a good effort. Sounds like your training is going well!

Wbertha - The Garmin did great!! No problems at all! Yes a strong signal the whole way!
Please, continue to post here! Maybe while in training limbo you can work on your base mileage. That's what I plan on doing. Just easy slow running with cross training at the gym.

Sheila - Yep, I remember! LOL Yes we have all come a long way! Is that Indy 500 mini some type of relay which requires a partner?

Noob - Hey, glad you decided to join our happy group! Oh and we are runners too! LOL

Peg - So you gonna provide us with pics of all the remodeling?

Chuck - Just caught up on the news... Sorry you're having a tough time. We're here for you man, regardless of our running schedules.

Kevin - Thanks man. Yeah I really like my Garmin! Got it for Christmas last year. A few of us here have them so

Welcome newcomers!! (BTW, the Member Password to our Map is "hm") Sorry if I missed anyone!

Better get to work!

Good morning everyone.

My daughter is feeling better and we are planing on a run tonight. We are going to try a few Thanksgiving 5k's. Last night was warm for Wisconsin, close to 50 in th evening. Got 7.1 miles in last night, ran it in just over an hour.

Laurel, My daughter is finally beginning to want to run. She had other sports in school that she was doing, but now wants to run. She has been running for about a month. She is running 4 days a week, typically 4-5 miles per day.

MissWendy good run yesterday.

Joe good to hear you are recovering. What cross training are you doing? I'm looking to run 4-5 days per week and fit a few days in at the gym if possible. Keep resting, what you accomplished is amazing.

Kathywing 8 miles is awesome, that is my next goal is the eight mile run.

Noob welcome.

Chuck keep posting we are here for you. Take care and get a good run in. Things will make sense over time. Just keep the faith.

Everyone else take care and keep pushing!

Hey everyone! I?ve decided to take several days off to heal this hip. It?s just not healing otherwise. I?ll let it rest and then run again and it starts hurting again. I think it wants more than a day?s rest between runs, so I?m going to give it until this weekend at least. I?ve decided to walk the mileage that I?d run instead (except for my long run - walking 6 miles would take forever! ). I figure that I have to get it healed before I start serious training for my big race in May. (I know ? May is so far off, but still?)

It?s funny, though. I really miss running! (And I?m only on day 3 of resting it!) I never would have thought a year ago that I?d bemoan a week off from running. Funny how quickly it becomes important to us all.

Simon ? I like the way kilometers sound too.

Cara ? How?s it going?! 3.5 in 34:20 ? you are so fast, girl!

Welcome Noob! Glad you could join us! I?m new to this group too. They?re a great group!!

MissWendy ? holy ****! I might have had a heart attack if a shot went off while running!

Laurel ? how old is your daughter? Mine is almost 14, but my son (who is 10) also occasionally runs with me. We picked up the new car last night! It?s oh so pretty! And has all sorts of cool gadgets (butt warmers, moon roof, adjustable everything, you name it.)

Chuck ? how?s it going today? Things any clearer? What is the issue that?s causing your son and your gf to argue?

Kristopher ? We?ll have to see about that! Packers are pretty good this year! (But I will concede that the Cowboys are too?  )

Wbertha ? don?t worry about not having a half picked out. Mine isn?t until 5/31, so it?s a long ways off!

Peg ?I want to see the remodeling pics too! I love remodeling ? if I could do it full time, I would. It?s so much fun! (And hard work!)

Kathywing ? 8 miles is a great long run! Don?t worry about the speed ? I?m a slow runner too! I actually don?t mind being slow, I know that bugs some people, though.

Sheila ? that?s so cool that you helped a coworker do c25k! I think I might start doing that with my son too.

Runjr - you're in Wisconsin? I'm in Iowa - we're neighbors!! Are you a Packers fan too???

Howdy to Jules, Slave, and Kevin! (And whoever else I missed! I promise I didn't mean to overlook anyone.)

Joe ? you used to be ?joewascool?, huh? That?s funny.

Well, happy Tuesday everyone!

Hello to all halfers! (We're becoming almost too many for individual greetings!)

Just a quick question for Stan, you mentioned speedwork, running 800s, how much rest between the 800s, and how fast did you run them? Was it around 4 minutes with 3 minutes rest? How many did you do?

Monnik, Joe, Spicegeek, hope you're recovering well.
Chamblin, I don't know Worthington, (except as a brewery), haven't been back for years. My cousin has a pub in Devon, The Tradesman's Arms.

Wendy and Laurel, if you are just running to complete, the speedwork is likely not necessary, though hills may be a good idea as they improve your strength and form.

Bertha, of course, stick around, we appreciate your contributions and encouragement.
Peg, good luck with the bathroom; we did ours about a year ago, wimped out and hired a contractor, 6 days it was done. Expensive, but worth it!
Simon.

Hello everyone!

I had a nice n easy 30 min run (2.5 mi) this morning. Temp was only 28 deg. but there was no wind so it was really nice!

Welcome KathyWing and Noob! My pace is right around yours KathyWing! It sure makes those 8 miles go easy.
Noob, good luck with your training

wbertha, Monnik, and RunJr! Go Packers! They sure are a surprise this year. Watch out Cowboys. wbertha, if you don't have a program, what do you do on running day? By the way, Wisconsinites, I'm from Mayville (SW of Fond du Lac)

Sheila, I'll second (or is it 3rd) the question, what's a Indy mini?

Chuck, yeah I understand completely. My ex wife and I are still friends and we see each other about once a week cuz I still have 2 daughters (17 and 13) living with me. It still gets tough sometimes, even after 8 years.

Laurel, How'd the 3.5 mi run go this morning?

Slave, nice to 'see' ya, how's the Hal Higdon program going?

misswendy, on my long run on Sunday afternoon I was out on all the rural roads and it sounded like a rifle range. I'm glad I wear a 'blaze' orange baseball cap!

Cara, congrats on the tempo run! After 4 months of 'take it slow and easy' my coach wants me to bump my speed a little on my run next Sunday! I can't wait.

Joe, take it easy for your recovery, how long are you taking off?

monnik, I can relate to missing running, I only had yesterday off and I missed it. I love running everyday!
