I'm thinking of doing the Sedona Half-Marathon on February 8, 2008. Has anyone done that one?

Hey!

Runjr - For cross training I mean cardio machines at the gym i.e. Stair Climber, Elliptical, Rowing Machine, Stationary Bike (actually looking into a Spin class).

Monnik - Glad you decided to take the extra time off and let that hip heal! Oh yeah, "joewascool"... when I started here on the forum, I was "joescool". Then the CR server had a meltdown and lost a lot of peoples usernames. When I joined up again, without thinking much I selected the name "joewascool". For the past few months now, I have renamed myself to "joescoolagain"! Make sense? Probably not huh? LOL

SimonR - Thanks for the shoutout! Ditto!

Kevin - Good morning run! I'll take today off again for sure, maybe I'll do something tomorrow. Not sure.

Misswendy - Your post worked! 4miles in 38 min is speedy!

KathyWing - Looks like an awesome running site!

Oh and speaking of speedy, where's Imogene?? Speed Racer, where are ya?

Joe

Hey everyone, I went out for my short 3 miles at lunch today my calves hurt so bad I had to stop a few times. I am so aggravated. Why does this keep happening to me. I pushed through it and kept going but lord have mercy they hurt.

Do you think that when your training that if you split up your mileage from like lunch do 3 then after work do 3 it would have the same effects? I just wonder if I am ever going to get any better. How am I going to get to a 1/2 marathon going this way. I know I am just feeling discouraged tomorrow will be a new day.

hopper31- I had the same thing with my calves this summer- after about 2-3 months of continuing to run thru it and doing the toe taps that is suggested around these forums they finally don't hurt anymore!

Monnik- what part of Iowa? My sister lives in the outskirts of Des Moines. I am hoping to visit her in the next year- I'll have to plan it around a race out there! I also have a lot of family in Texas- I used to live in Austin, but have only one daughter and she loves Utah. (I'd follow her anywhere- she has my grandchildren!)

Joe- Sorry to say I am having a difficult time with my back- it does ok until I try to run. I am going to a chiropractor today in a little bit and hope that helps. I hope I don't lose all of my stamina I have had. I had just reached 1 hr on the one hr runner and was going to start the HHST when I hurt it. Kinda ironic that I have been going so slow in training so I wouldn't have an injury and then hurt myself at work!

Chuck- sorry about all that is going on- I don't know all of the situation and people involved but I tend to get worried when someone doesn't like your child and/or family. That seems a little selfish to me. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope you can figure things out.

Kathy- you are running faster than me! I am about 4 to 4.5 per hour!

Everyone- Have a great afternoon!

I spent an hour cross training on the elliptical trainer today, and I've agreed to enter a 12km trail run in December!! Should be a fun challenge!

Evening gang! Just checking in... Will probably hit the gym tomorrow, go for a run on Thursday then LSD on Saturday.

Hopper31 - Sorry your having such problems with your calves! I've heard that splitting your runs like that are okay. However your long runs should be done all in one workout.
What's your long run at now? Check the following website for your calf pain

Julezc - Hope all goes well at the chiropractor. Let us know how it goes!

Noob - Excellent on that 12km trail run! Did you add it to our calendar? Its looking kinda bare in Dec!

Hey where's Jeep? Her Lightfest 8K is tonight! Chistina, you out there?

Joe

Got stuck late at work today so no running for me. However, think it might have been time to take off a couple of days in a row.

kavee, I had been following a training plan that would have hopefully gotten me ready to run a half marathon in February. However, now that February is out, I am kind of in limbo plan wise.

Hey, Joe, I have been doing about 24 to 26 miles a week. Would like to keep a base of at least 20. what is your opinion?

Hi everyone, did a step video this morning. I would have loved to run after work but didn't take my stuff to town with me.

Ok guys the indy 500 mini is one of the largest 1/2 marathons around. you actually get to run around the indy 500 track. everything I've read about it and everyone I've talked to says its awesome.
Its not a relay but I had planned on staying 2 nights and it would be alot more fun staying with a group of women and making a weekend out of it. Thats what we did for the 1/2 in Nashville last year. We had a great time. Oh well, I guess I can take DH with. Wouldn't be as fun though LOL. Can you all tell I've been married almost 25 years. Anyway here is the link. http://www.500festival.com/marathon/[/URL" target="_blank">

Chuck--hang in there, my thoughts are with you.

Everyone else--I hope your week is going ok.

Hi all, just got back from a nice run tonight of 7.25 miles in 1hr 3 minutes according to my garmin. I had to get it in as Wisconsin weather is about to change tomorrow.

chuck way to get out there tonight. Good run hope it helps, keep posting.

monnik we are neighbors and I am a Packer fan, great season so far. Did the weather change by you? I heard the cold is on its way.

kevee I am just outside of Milwaukee. The weather is definitely going to change soon, I hope to run outside as long as I can.

misswendy Brett Favre is sure fun to watch play football. He has been playing for so long he is like part of the family. Do they televise a lot of games in your area?

Joe thanks for the cross training tip as I need to add this to my routine and you have run the race that I'm aiming for so I'm surely going to listen to your advise.

Noob good challenge a 12k trail run. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hello to everyone else and keep pushing.

Good evening gang! Hope everyone is well. Yesterday ran 5 torturous miles after not being able to sleep Sunday night. Today, 4 miles that was much easier after a long nap this afternoon. DS 11 came home and reminded me that tonight was the Fall Extravaganza at his school and I had to hurry to get my run in. So he did his homework and I ran. We had a good time at school. Tomorrow is a rest day for me.

Simon- I am doing 800s every other week (opposite my long run) adding 2 each time. My target in 800 meters in 5 mins (10mpm pace). I walk 400 meters in between each 800. This is out of Jeff Galloway?s Book on Running.

Joe- I am just now catching up on your race last Sunday. Even with the ankle issue it was a good effort. I have to give someone else credit for saying ?save something for the last 5K? it was not me, I wish I would have said it. Good job, congrats!

Chuck- hang in there, we all go through ups and downs. Maybe some of us can get out and run at the same time one evening and forget about life for awhile.

Wbertha- running in races, even though they are enjoyable, do not make a runner! Are there any local runs that you could participate in?

Runjr- you training is awesome. I am envious of distance and time.

Welcome to all of the newcomers. My, how we are growing.

Hello, and good runs to everyone else.

Stan
