Chuck- glad you're wearing panties- but I hope you don't tomorrow (Thursday). Only thongs are allowed on Thong Thursday!

Monnik- My grandkids are turning 5 and 8 in Dec. They are alot of fun!

Joe- The chiropractor says my back was out quite a bit so I am hoping I will be able to run without pain tomorrow! It feels better today already!

Hope everyone has great runs!

misswendy, I was a little confused as I post at the boomers and beyond forum as well on this site. If you look at all the forums on this site you will see a boomers and beyond forum as well. Just got my forums confused. That's what happens as I'm getting older.

Nobody told me that when I signed up to become a runner

5.3 for me last night in a slow 60 mins... felt good for it, but my knee/leg is much worse this morning. After moving it for a while it feels better again (walking to the station) so not sure what to do. I think it's the tendons as I can feel it when I stretch my leg out rather than specifically putting any weight / impact on it... So - do I forego my 4.5 miles tonight and give it 2 or 3 days rest until long run at weeked, or run through it (doesn't hurt running so this is easily done, but could be worse after)?

I think I know what you're all going to say... rest it right?
Happy running all...
Cara

Morning Peeps! 30 min of cardio at the gym last night. Quads getting back to normal. I'll probably go for a short run, thinking 3 miles this afternoon.

Macd - You joining us??

Slave - LOL you are right about some people come new years time!

Noob - Wow, you live in Aus? Did you at least add yourself to our map? And I agree with Spicegeek, regardless of where you live/race, we like to see who is racing when!

Spicegeek - Thanks for checking in!

Alex - Glad you shook off that cold. Nice run! Thanks... ankle is fine now.

Chuck43 - Good run! If you get Peg to move over, don't think you'll get her to root for the Dolphins! Our temp high yesterday was 87F, high for today only 68F, and low for tonight 38F!!
Sounds like running tights weather here too! Mine are NB, commando! LOL

KathyWing - Good 3.75 miles! I like flat running courses! Cold front here too!

Runjr - Good XT day! On my Garmin I like to track the current lap pace along with the previous lap pace.

Wbertha - That rain, wind and temps in the 40's doesn't sound too good huh? But what if its like that come race morning?!!

Sheila - Thanks. You tried a spin class?

Laurel - Take care of that knee! Thanks on the pics. I was having fun up until around mile 10!

Peg - Keep plugging away at those interviews! Some of them are bound to wise up! Did you tell them you're running Houston? Really hope you find something and your shins heal up soon!

Julezc - Nice shedule! Go commando myself no having to remember what to wear! So I see what you'll be wearing on Thanksgiving Day! LOL ...so the chiropractor got your back in line again? Let us know how that run today goes!!

Cara - So how do like being a runner now! LOL Good pace for a 5.3 mile run! Oh uh, sounds like you need to take a few days off, rest and ice that knee! I'd say skip the long run too!!

Man this nice weather is making it very hard not to run. : (

Everyone wearing their thongs today? HAHA.

Well going to the interview at 10:30. Tell you guys about it when I get home.

I may see if I can run again later. I can feel it is still a little sore along the bone of my shin but we will see. Just going to try a mile at first, if I get that far.

To all the injured. Rest, take care of the injury and we will all get through it together.

joe, thanks--I'd love to join you, but I'm a ways from thinking about a 5k yet, let alone a HM (which is my looong range goal at this point). Great job on your HM, and nice pics!

Sheila, I thought about signing up for the Indy Mini 5k--but I'd really rather wait until I'm ready for the HM. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone?

Peg, good luck with your interview, and Chuck, with your personal situation. Good running, all!

Welcome MacD and Slave (we "know" each other from the 50's thread.)

Bertha, sounds like a good plan. I found one thing that really gave me confidence was doing some runs in training that were greater than the race distance. the first couple of times were tough and I felt really tired after 18kms. Eventually worked up to 24kms so the challenge in the 21.1 became pacing, not endurance.

Spicegeek, nice to hear from you, is there a machine like a bike you "pedal" with your hands? Or maybe a rowing machine so you can do cardio not just strength training.

ran 6k with training group last night, 36 minutes. felt like a warmup for the real run, I was so full of energy after 2 days off it was ridiculous.
Simon.

Hey everyone! I didn't know the thong Thursday rule either... hmmm... guess I have some shopping to do.

I'm really missing my runs. But I'm still having trouble with the hip. I even - GASP - switched to wearing flats instead of heels to work. (I'm 5'2" so I almost never wear flats.)

If It's not better by next week, I'm going to set up a real doctors appt. I really want to be in good shape to start my real training in January.

Wow! I take a day off from posting and look what happens! I've got 2 pages of posts to catch up on...

I did an hour run this morning (5.06 mi). Temps were around 30 with a 30mph wind. I really 'feel' for you guys(and gals) that have to run in the '80's. It's so much easier to run in the cold!

Chuck43, I'm glad you able to get out and run.
Everyone else too!

I hope everyone that's hurt can mend.

monnik - please don`t wait - go see the doctor now - if it`s just a strain then fine - if it`s worse the sooner you find out the better - I am laid up with a stress fracture in the hip right now and I made the mistake when I first started feeling discomfort in the hip to rest a dsy or 2 and run and then run through the pain then I waited 2 weeks before seeing a doctor making all the same reasoning as you are - - I won`t be running now for a few months - make sure you get an MRI - it probably is not anything to serious but one thing I have learned - waiting to see a doc is not going to make it better.

Chuck - yes I use the hand bike - it`s the most boring piece or cardio equipment on the planet ! - can`t row can`t put any pressure at all on my hip or leg - I suppose I could row with just my arms and leave my feet on the ground - worth a try Simply use the following coupon code to get your discount: PCSaveOurHair7

Hi everyone.

Newbie here. I've been social running for years. Just found this website. Imagine that. I love the support every gives. It's pretty awesome.

Hope you don't mind if I join?

Running my first 1/2 this weekend - Saturday. I'm a slow runner so it will be interesting to see if I can finish in a decent time. Hoping for 2:15 but my pace says I should finish in 2:45. We'll see. Every run is different for me. Ran 8 on Monday and breezed through it. Ran 3 yesterday and struggled the entire time. Go figure!

Hope everyone is having a great afternoon!

Thanks for the link! My daughters will be getting those in their stockings. (Am I supposed to be doing stockings for a 24 and a 26 yo?)
