I've got one 5 miler in my pocket. It was the first race I ran after starting back into it and my time was 52:44 so I could certainly blow the lid off that PR.

Well Bugs, it's not like I can afford it or anything...! Just seems these last couple have fallen into place. I won't tell you that I'm also looking at one in mid-December in Olympia WA... oops, just did. They offer a discount to Marathon Maniacs, and DH is using it as a "carrot" to get me to go to Denver with him for a business meeting. Hmmm, gotta find someone to feed the dog and kids.
I'm finding it much easier to keep a rotating "recovery/build-up/short taper" thing going for monthly marathons instead of the long build-up to a once or twice a year race. Don't think I can keep it up for long though. But we'll see....
What I NEED is to find a race with guaranteed good weather. So far it seems like I'm not doing well in that regard.

The kids complain about it sometimes, but DH seems to encourage it (when it works to his advantage, of course!). I take 2-4 days "off" after a marathon, then a couple days easy, then it seems like I'm ready to do it all over again. Can't explain it other than to say I built up a really good base last year and it's paid dividends all year? Not sure what else to say...

4 miles on the treadmill tonight and then a Beaujolais Neuveau dinner tonight. The wine was actually better than in past years... food was good as usual. Now I have to get potatoes ready for a Thanksgiving potluck tomorrow night and goodwill household pickup in the morning...

"Old testament" - I like that. It's decided - 5 miler for me.

Did a little over six this morning with a few pickups here and there. Wind was tough, about 60% of the run was straight into a 25-20 knot wind. Ugh, but felt good.

Gonna try some marathon pace running tomorrow. Something like 2 mile warmup, 4-6 at pace, 2 mile cool down. Looking forward to it.

Good luck Mr. I, let us know how it goes.

An easy 6 this morning, followed by crunches.

Heading out to a HS playoff football game in a little while. Have a 2 hour drive, but we're leaving early to hit a casino on the way.

I am in love.

DH and I joined a new gym last night. I have hated my old gym for all three years I've been a member but it was the only gym in town so I went. Equipment was always broken, lots of sweaty meatheads....gross.

A Snap Fitness gym opened in our town yesterday. Awesome concept. It's open 24 hours but not staffed the whole time...members have a key pass. Super cheap, no classes or extras...just really nice machines and weights.

The coolest thing?? This magical treadmill called a Woodway. I'd never heard of one (to which the owner said, "Oh..well really serious runners like marathoners all swear by them" Really?? Cause I just ran a marathon, butthead.) but it seriously made running on a treadmill not suck completely. It almost has a bounce to it..it felt softer than running on the dirt roads by my house.

is it pathetic that I'm in love with a treadmill??

Oh well. It was a lovely 5 miles. No sweaty meatheads.

Hope your runs go well this weekend!!

Woot! Finally got back over 30 MPW for the first time since the marathon. I need to plan post race time better.

Also, I did a real honest to goodness tempo run this morning. In the past I did some runs harder than others, but didn't really pay much attention to pace. Did some figuring and came up with about 8:45 for tempo pace. I warmed up for 2 miles, ran 25 min at tempo and then did about a 2 and some change cooldown to finish at 8 miles total. I checked the Garmin periodically, but actually had a pretty good feel for my pace, which is new for me. I've always had a hard time judging my pace.

Anyway, good run this morning which ends a good week. Looking forward to the 5 miler on Thursday.

Nice run mrinertia, and good job on getting over 30! Feels good to run fast, doesnt it? I almost never do, and ran 8 pretty fast midweek... felt nice.

I got in my 22 this morning. Kind of interesting, if you guys remember I experimented with a walk/run strategy last week (2 miles run, 60 seconds walk).

This morning I did 1 mile run, 60 seconds walk, so basically, I walked twice as much.

Both days I did the same loop, but today I hit the killer hill one extra time (4 times in all).

Last week I did 20 miles at a 9:59 pace with an average heart rate of 157.

This morning I did 22 miles at 10:04 pace with an average heart rate of 150.

Big difference in the heart rate but only a slight difference in pace with the killer hill added in a extra time.

Wonder if I will recover better?

Good runs everyone!

Cash- I left myself wide open for that one!

No runs for me this weekend...following my run on the magical treadmill, I woke up Saturday with a sorer than usual ankle. Urgh. Still sore today so I did the elliptical and weights. I think I'm going to skip the planned 10k turkey trot on Thursday and just try to do some really easy miles this week.

Back to my cleaning...we're hosting dh's family wednesday night for an early thanksgiving dinner...
