Ok! Good Morning!

runningcold did we scare you away? Come back! (Or as Dorie might say, ?come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack?.)

Mary congrats to DH on his success. Is his arm all healed up at this point? So, Amy?s gone? Finally.. she was so lame. What did her ?see her now? update look like?

Cherrie cooking class sounds great. You do such interesting things..like invite the whole gang over for a lobster party. I can?t wait! Thanks for protecting my fiancé.

Monnier love the Golden Girls-cycling training program! My sis just found a great cycling gym where they store your bike, they?ll set it up on a trainer if you call before you come, and it?s 8 bucks for a 3 hour window, pretty much anytime during the week. Lots of Tvs in the room.. sounds ideal for the Chicago winters.

Michelizda omg what a crazy day yesterday! I?m glad everyone is ok.. although it sounds like your heart probably skipped a few beats. Hope you?re enjoying your Friday.

Sarah great shot of the happy couple! I cracked up at the phone/bra story. When I?m in my good bra, I can barely slide a credit card in between those puppies it?s so secure.

Lisa is your DD looking at College Park or a different campus? UMBC (my alma mater) is a great place.. totally different from CP but a great school in many ways. Does she know what she wants to study?

Melanie how?d Jason react to the V ultimatum? That Tim story was a riot..

NC yay honeymoon! So, I vacation almost exclusively in the Caribbean and love most of it! St. Lucia is wonderful and very low-key. I enjoyed St. Thomas, although it?s pretty expensive relative to some other places. Additionally, LOTS of cruise ships dock there so it?s very touristy (which I don?t like). St Lucia, less so. I also really like St. Maarten/Martin.

Lindsey YAY for the hour of cardio the other night! I didn?t realize you wanted to be pregnant so soon! You should do the turkey trot!

becky hope you and the hot boys are having fun in Durban! My folks were there for a few days last month and absolutely LOVED it. J Safe travels back home.. and thanks for keeping us posted!

Ok. I think I'm caught up. Chest cold is getting much better.. i actually slept without coughing too much last night and feel pretty ok today. I still get winded walking around, so I'm going to try for a walk tonight, or maybe just weights at home..

I'm going to upload pics today and will try to post.. i didn't take many in vacation though.

Hey Jhi we needed a Nemo quote! Chest colds are awful, aren't they! Feel better!

Cherrie so far today I have been a very good girl...Egg whites for breakfast. I haven't had lunch yet, but I think it will just be turkey on whole wheat with a carrot...dinner in in the air...

I went to the gym today! My stomach settled down enough to go. 20 very slow, very boring minutes on the TM until my bladder kicked in. Stupid of me to drink 2 cups of coffee before the gym. Then I did 20 mins on the bike. After was a lower body workout. Hurah!

oh yeah, and Melanie what is with the V ultimatum??

Edited to say that I lost my head...25 boring minutes on the TM and 15 on the bike...I had the total time right, just the wrong proportions...

YAY for the gym Michelizda! Sounds like your day got off to a good start!

Monnier it's amazing how much better i feel now that it's over with. I'm much more relaxed, much less of a b!tch, and just more like myself. This last year was brutal.. I'm just glad my friends didn't abandon me in the process! I'm enjoying basking in the attention that comes with graduation, but it's approaching being uncomfortable so I'm glad it's settling down soon. Only to go into full swing when i'm home for the holidays.

My new job starts Dec 3rd, which is enough time for me. The office is closed between Christmas and New Year's, so I'll only have 3 weeks before i get off again.. I'm excited to get started and get into the swing of things.

I'm starving! Didn't ahve much of an appetite the last couple days, so now I need to watch it so I don't overdo it. Going to go make some eggs now and get to lab.

Genipher, 4carter... where are you?!?!?

quick note before I head out. I have a unit breakfast this morning and I'm not sure what I'll have. Probably nothing good that is for sure. Question:

I have my scheduled long run for tomorrow. I'm shooting for 7 slow miles but Dr. Jhi's fiancee rescheduled with me for tomorrow morning. Should I do both or do a shorter, faster run (planned for Sunday) and do the long one on Sunday?

Michelle Good job hitting the gym and getting it done before the 'issues' set in.

Jhi I'll protect you any time!!!!!! I know the feeling of too much attention. When I got my M.ed it was all "oh Cherrie,,,,, then it faded and then I got the sup's position and it was 'oh Cherriee..... you get the idea. It is finally back to normal. oh well, enjoy it I guess.

ok, I have to head out...bbl...for answers. teehehe

I would do the shorter run tomorrow and save the long run for Sunday. We can run together Sunday! I'm going for 10.
Tomorrow I think I'll do the 10K Trail run.

BBL!

So...a little birdy put the idea of gummi bears in my head and I blew it. I ate a package of gummi bears. Okay, there is only like 10 in there, but still....I am trying to lay off sweets.

I am kicking myself in the butt...NO MORE SWEETS FOR MICHELIZDA...today, at least

Dr Jhi- Remind me, when do you move? And is the new job still in NYC?

Morning all,

Today is starting out to be windy and cold (at least to me). Not working out today. Gonna take it easy. My 1/2 starts at 8:30am tomorrow and the temp at that time is going to be around 40F. BURRRRRRRRR....... I don't like running when it's that chilly. Hopefully the wind will lay down by then.

I'm still trying to remember everyone's name. But with my memory being what it is, that may take a while.

Dr. Jhi - From reading what's being said, I'm guessing you just finished medical school? Am I close? If so, congratulations. My next door neighbor is in his 4th year. Very demanding. My hats off to you.

Thanks everyone for all the smiles this morning. I love being a part of a group that's so positive. There doesn't seem to be a selfish person here and that's VERY refreshing.

I'm traveling today for my run. Gonna incorporate a "girls" weekend into it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. Enjoy your workouts. Hopefully the weather in all areas will corporate.

Take care and be safe out there!

Woah....lots of posts to catch up on this morning. I didn't run last night, I was planning on doing 3 miles but I got home and I just really didn't feel like it. I was tired, I was cranky and and I was hungry. So I said screw running and made wild rice with chicken kiev. Way too high in calories but I just didn't care! I'm going to run 5 tonight instead and then take tomorrow off since my race is Sunday. Mikayla called me last night to see if she could come this weekend and we were supposed to do a dart tourney so as I'm kinda talking it out out load she starts bawling...but I want to come. I'm like sheesh kid, you can come I was just kinda saying it out loud so Jason knew what was going on. So then her dad gets on the phone and I'm like what's going on?? Since he's had her I've hardly EVER been able to have her extra. Once in awhile if I ask he'll let me but never is it his idea. So he goes well I'm going to be gone this weekend so I thought maybe you'd want her. I said well of course I do, I'm just surprised. Now the weird part is that last weekend his fiance' called and left a message saying it was her son's bday this weekend so she wanted Savannah to come there and they were going to doa party of some sort. So now....he's going to be gone, Mikayla won't be there.....hmmmmmmm. Plus I could hear her yelling in the backround so I have to get the scoop. I wish they'd break up....she's a fake b******. That's a nice way for me to put it. So this weekend is an eye appt. for Vannie tomorrow, getting some decorations, and then Sunday morning is my race. Low-key weekend for the most part.
Jhi Glad you're back!!!! Sounds like you have just enough time off before you get going again. You must have the proudest parents in the world with you girls getting your PhD's. Do you have any other siblings besides sis?
Michelle Good job at the gym!!! Scrambled egg whites sound really good right now. I didn't get breakfast...I totally know the Emmit Otter movie!!! I had forgotten all about it. I know my mom loves it and she always wanted us kids to watch it. Is that movie that old though??I didn't think it was but it must be!
Michele Rock on with the training!!! That's great. I watched It's a Wonderful Life one time when I was pregnant with Savannah. Her dad was insistent we watch it....but now I can barely remember it!
CherrieHow's hubby doing? Less whining I hope? Personally I'd go for the 7 miler but I'm probably not experienced enough to give advice. You run 4-5 without any problems....what's 2 more??
NC I'm a 30 year old mother of 2 girls, ages 11 and almost 8, engaged to a super great guy who also has two daughters ages 16 and 15. We live in MN about an hour from St. Paul/Mpls. and I work in a small title insurance company. I started running last December to get fit and lose some weight.
Mary I know, I know...about the running in the wind thing. I don't think I'm going to do any more races until springtime so I'll just stick to my treadmill for the winter months. Sunday's forecast here looks like mid 30's and cloudy. I should be fine with that!!
Ok....work has gone into crazy mode so I have to actually do something...WHATEVER!!!!!

Hello again! No worries about the names, SD Sunshine.. you'll get them all in no time! Thanks for the congrats.. i just finished a grueling PhD in microbiology. This crew has been SO supportive throughout it all and I'm so happy to know them!

Oh, I get keys on monday and have to be out of my curent place at the end of the month, so I'm thinking about moving slowly... And yes, the job is in nyc still. So everyone can still come visit!

Michelizda mmm gummy bears! I can't chew them because they feel weird on my teeth, so if I eat them, I suck on them.. takes me hours to eat a handful.

Speaking of candy.. American Airlines now sells crappy snacks on the plane for 3 bucks.. candy bar, chips, a giant cookie and some other stuff. I was thinking how overpriced that stuff was. But the guy next to me (who looked exactly like Tim Gunn from Project Runway) ordered the chips, and it was a huge canister like Pringles! That seems so crazy to me. And the kid next to me got a candy bar and it was the super jumbo size!

I mean, lord knows i'm not one to be talking about overindulging or obesity in general, but I was really struck by it.

What's for lunch? I'm thinking about some soup and sauteed spinach..

Jhi Confession time: Last time I flew, I bought a can of those pringles and ate them all.
I'm so excited for you! New apartment, new job, new life really!! Must seem odd not to have to cram for anything. You still have lab though I see!
Amee looked really good on her follow up - surprised me too!

Monnier You are so sweet! As far as the pizza - what the heck! Not like you do it all the time. At 10 a.m. this morning I was already looking at pizza deals for dinner tonight!! I'm not sure if what I/we would want is a "trainer" or an excercise bike - but thanks again for the link.

Michelle I'm glad you felt better to go to the gym! All this talk of Christmas movies reminded me to change my ringtone on my phone to "Sleighride". I just love that song and it brings back memories of DD#1 in band. I'm fighting the sweets too. They are now all gone at work - but I have 2 more dark chocolate promises at home - then I won't buy anymore!

Cherrie What did you have for breakfast??

NC Be careful not to overdress tomorrow morning. Do you have some throw away clothes/mittens that you can layer? I just ran a 1/2 the end of October. I knew I could do it in 2:21 - but my goal was 2:15. I finished in 2:15:32 and was SO happy! GOOD LUCK - and you have to write a race report for us!!

Melanie having been a stepmother myself - I am so happy those stressful days are over. Hope it all works out and to your advantage!! Those "other" women can reek holy havoc!! You never told me about your alfredo recipe - scratch or jar?

Lisa Happy for you that DS is home! For the Thanksgiving holiday I take it. As far as running Saturday morning, just see how you feel. It might be the best run you ever had.

Rest day for me. I went to pilates last night and I'm the only one still going out of 3 of us. Anyway she has us doing this ball rolls and my tailbone is so sore today. "A" at works says it is because I'm so boney! Ya -right!
However - the scale read an even-steven 134 this morning and that has been my goal for weeks now!! Of course, now I'm thinking 4 more . . . .

This morning when I got to work I could not find my glasses. I had them in the truck last night - so I drive home to look for them and they are not there. Then I drive to Pilates and luckily they were there - so I stopped at Starbucks and got a Latte for myself and "A". That took an hour out of my morning.

Oh, and yes Jhi, DH's arm is all better now. Thanks for asking!

~Mary

Mary Sorry....I had too many distractions this morning on my first post!!! The first time I made it, I made it from scratch. I hunted and hunted for a good recipe and found one. It took me forever to make....so the next time I bought a jar of Classico Roasted Garlic Alfredo sauce and used that BUT I added a ton of basil. Shocking....it was better than my homemade stuff. So I have used that every time and never looked back. FAR easier. I use chicken or shrimp. I bet we eat it at least every 2 weeks. It's a favorite at our house!

Hello everyone!

Long time since I posted here... but amidst the job change, handover and getting used to the new job, things were quite hectic for me. So was not running regularly, only thing I did regularly was the Pilates. Plus with Diwali ("THE" festival in India) last week, there was too much of gorging on the sweets and delicacies!!

Fortunately, my new office has a state of art gym and I hope I can continue with running.

Ran today though,and feeling nice...

Bye for now! and congratulations to Dr Jhi..
