Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Morning All,

Today hubby and I are heading to the gym together for the first time ever! I have asked him many times and our schedules just never mesh. I am a 9:30 gym girl and he is a 5:30 am guy (if and when he goes). DH is having a belated Veteran's Day for himself today. We have our own business and every year he says I am working on Veteran's Day and I'm a veteran. I always remind him that he makes the schedule but he somehow never slates himself off - so today he will. Speaking of Veteran's Day - DH had to work real late yesterday so DS9 and I made a ff, sf chocolate cream pie and put lots of little army guys on top with a flag and a hum v. My son thought it was pretty cool and DH was touched. We made a Happy Veteran's Day banner complete with the Army logo on one side. I took a cute picture of the two of them I will post later. I was thinking of your hubby Bo who is deployed now and how hard that must be. DH & I met after he was out of the service so I was never part of the active service life. Hats off to all those that serve and protect us!! Colleen

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Hey gang... Just a quickie this morning...

Two more days after today until I return home for a week of family, friends, and R&R...

My consistency with all things "self care plan" have been, well, inconsistent. I have not been able to run consistently due to my own mental baggage. Physically, I feel alright. It is just stringing together a week of good effort with the running and eating that puts me back in the right place. I am hoping this return home, with no real time constraints other than running and the occasional HIGH QUALITY beer, will be just what the doctor ordered.

That said, certainly I am anxious to get home and see my mom and my uncle. This still does not really feel like home. It is kind of a benign place. I mean, it's fine. But it is just not quite home yet.

Odd to put into words, I guess.

So, I am off to get some work done. I need to come back here, now more than ever. I need y'all. Practicing what I preach is sometimes easier said than done.

Be well,
Dan

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Good morning Everyone!

It's been a week since I've been back from vacation and I am just now getting back to the swing of things. I haven't run/exercised in about 9 days and I'm totally feeling it. I haven't been following the points in about a month so I'm getting back on track starting today.

This is the time last year when I stopped running and gained weight...I'm determined not to let that happen again. I've worked too hard to gain my 25 lbs back...

Happy - Can you add a race for me Dec 15 - Celtic Solstice 5 Miler - Baltimore, MD

Also - has anyone tried the WW pumpkin/chocolate cake muffin. I read it on another forum and it looks so easy... I will have to try it tonight....I copied the recipe below

(1 Muffin, or 3 minis - 180 calories, 2.5g fat, 37 carbs, 2.5g, fiber, 2.5g protein - 3 WW points)

This super-simple 2-ingredient recipe is a Weight Watchers Fave!

1 box devil?s food cake mix
1 can solid pack pumpkin (15 oz.)

Directions:
Mix the two ingredients together. Don't add anything else that may be mentioned on the box, such as eggs, oil, or water. The mixture will be very thick and you will be tempted to add in other things to make the batter smoother. DO NOT DO THIS AS IT WILL RUIN EVERYTHING! Place batter into muffin tins (or mini muffin tins) lined with paper, or sprayed with non-stick spray. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Makes 12 regular or 36 mini muffins

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Good morning everyone! I had a great weekend off but unfortunately had to come back to work today. On the plus side, I did lose two pounds AND I ran a 6 mile long run on sunday and just felt all sorts of fabulous afterwards.

maxiemoo- Those muffins sound great! Let me know how they turn out. Have you tried the pineapple angel food cake? It's the same thing, a can of crushed pineapple and a cake mix for Angel Food Cake. I'm not much of a chef, so the easy ones are my favorite!

Happy-How goes the no sugar? I'm sure you're doing really well! Good luck with it. Also, can you add me for a 10K Parade Company Turkey Trot in Detroit on Thanksgiving day? Thanks!

desertbrat-I know everyone else has said it already, so I won't mention the whole "eat less to lose weight" thing. I will tell you, the more you work out, the better you feel, the less you feel like filling your body with unhealthy stuff. When I really want something horrible for me I think about how hard I had to work to do my run and burn off calories and why would I want to negate all that work?

melaniec- I loved your story about working out with Bodacious. I think we all have our thing. Running is my time for mental recovery so I spend a lot of time having imaginary conversations with myself and others about whatever issues weigh most on my mind.

Everyone else, hope the week goes well and we all manage to stay OP!

Have a great day!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Today was a DOR and I am planning another 9 mile run for tomorrow. Had to change my long run since I have a race on Saturday and I was sore last week after my 9-miler. So, I'll do 9 tomorrow, 2-3 on Friday and then the 5K on Saturday. I'm hoping it'll be a little cooler tomorrow & I'll definitely wear sunscreen this time.

shannon - how cool that your niece is wearing the same style dress. my DD is 12 and it was perfect for her. She calls it her "Belle" dress since it looks like the dress Belle wore in Beauty & the Beast.

Bodacious - glad you got a kick out of my run with you... and glad you didn't think it strange that you were in my fantasy. LMAO

HappyPenguin - 2 days of no cookies/candy & you are still surviving! my sis is in Aruba right now, just got an email from her today. I'll get to see her on Sunday & then she leaves for Alabama. I'm ready for the cooler weather, it's in the 60s in the morning but then quickly warms up to around 80... it'll be nice when it stays around 60 all day.

Colleen - can't wait to see the pic you took yesterday. how sweet of you to honor your DH that way & how awesome for your son to see that message too.

Dan - enjoy your trip home!

maxie - I tried that recipe last year & it was good. Let me know how you like it.

megs - congrats on the 2 lb loss & the 6 mile run!

DJ - you had me laughing with the "big girl panties" remark! keep us posted on how you are doing!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Hello All....well I've made it back from vacation Actually I'm happy to be back home and be able to get back OP and back on a regular schedule with weight training. While I did my weight training each day in Mississippi I missed the three days while in New Orleans. While I didn't track what I was eating while in NOLA I felt like I made good choices in what I ate (well the gourmet breakfast was a little tough but I only ate a 1/3rd of my serving each morning) The tough part was the alcohol!!! I must admit that I did consume quiet a bit on both Saturday & Saturday. (the frown for the fact that it's loaded with calories but a big cause I did have A LOT of fun!!!

Got in late last night and got up early this morning and did weight training. I just got back from a run...decided to repeat W2. Last week it was really easy to run W2 at sea level but I wanted to work back in to the 8000 ft elevation.

So NOLA was wonderful. We bar hopped on Saturday watching our respective college teams play. That night we had tickets to see Taj Mahal (famous blues singer) who happened to be playing in NOLA and then on Sunday we went to see the Saints game. That sucked a little since they lost but you can also count on the entertainment of people watching at events such as that. Sunday night we hit Bourbon Street big time. It was really sad to have it all come to an end yesterday afternoon and have to say goodbye to the BF. He still has almost 7 months of training left I'm really glad that I have all these other good things going on in my life right now such as WW, C25K, and weight training otherwise I'm not sure what i would do with my time. Since the lodge that I manage is now closed for the season winter is my "quiet" time so to speak and work is never more a 5 day 40 hour week (which when we are open it's normally about 60 hours).

Glad to be able to read that things are going well for all of you and glad to be able to "be back in touch". I'm really happy that I've found this support group

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Hey everyone! Hope everyone is running well and eating well! I have been crazed with the work schedule and with the kids, so I haven't been on in a bit. Anyhoo...

Went to WW today and I was down 1.8 - not too shabby. I am up to 35 miles a week running. I am pretty proud of myself I have to say.

Plugginaway: I just noticed that you are running the TurkeyTrot in Derry. I live in Derry - we should run together or meet for coffee or something. I am always looking for a running buddy. My husband and I can't run together because it annoys him that I run faster than him. Not that I am super fast, but he is a big guy and I am smaller. He works hard and that is all that counts! We are running the 5K in Lowell because we are having Tday there. We are doing the Millenium Mile too, this will be our first one. Have you run this one before? Any words of advice? I looked at the postings and the times are super fast!!! I hope I'm not last!! LOL!

I am totally going to try those pumpin muffins - they sound great. Thanks to whoever posted it - I can't remember - sorry. I am terrible with remembering what everyone has written before me so I can respond to it. I guess I will have to figure out a way to keep it all straight... any ideas??????

Keep running. I am off to do 6 at the dreaded gym. It scares me to run in the dark now that it is dark at freaking 4pm!!!!

Peace! Love! and lots of RUNNING!!!!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this site and I'm excited to have found it. I'm a life time WW member and I'm really struggling with my weight right now. I can't seem to get things in balance. I know what I need to do but knowing and doing are two different things. My running which I started about a year ago is going pretty well, in fact, I'm finally getting into the routine of training for my next 5K even the dark hasn't stopped me but I'm in desperate need of a kick in the pants when it comes to the food aspect. Although I've increased my running from 3 to 5 days a week I have gained and lost the same two pounds multiple times since September. I NEED to lose some weight to get back to goal weight. Looking for new ideas, recipes, tips and others who are struggling to keep me motivated.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Hi all
I had a terrible day today! Got up late and it was all downhill from there! At lunch time I broke down and inhaled 3 leftover office halloween mini chocolate things, I have not medicated myself with food in a looooooooong time, I don't even know why I did that! Oh well it's over now, I jumped right back on the wagon
My day looked like:
B Steel cut oats, ff milk, little granola mixed in 4pts
S Apple 1pt
S 3 mini chocolate things 6pts ;(
L Subway veggie sub with tomato soup 6pts
S Kashi go lean bar 2pts
D Tamale pie with lots of steamed green beans 5pts
S ff wilk and vitamuffin 2pts

= 26pts
4 aps earnt so I was 2 over...those darn choclates hurt me today!

I drove home from work in a blizzard, the whole time I was thinking man my run is going to suck tonight! In fact it was a pretty awesome run. The Blizzard went away but it left us with about 8 inches of snow so I decided for safety I would stay away from the roads and head to the school track. I had to trail break a path for myself so the first few laps were interesting but once I had stomped down a path it got easier. It was such a peaceful run, so pretty with all the fresh snow and the sky had cleared and the stars where over the mountains. I wish I could have captured the moment for you all
I did 3 miles thru the snow, I was going to do more but I knew I had a driveway and 2 decks to shovel on my return home!

I decided tonight it is so much better running in the cold that the heat! Mel baby I feel for you I really do! I am starting to wonder how I will survive in Panama city next year! How did the South ever get on my wish list!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Day 31 of being POP! yay me.
Tonight I run and I cant wait. Bought new UnderArmour cold gear tights and a new Nike running skirt. I love looking cute when I run! and being warm is even better! I think I'm going to add a day of running to my routine. I've been running 3 days per week but I'm going to up it to 4. Thats the way I did it when I was running before and on the days when I don't run I am always wishing I were. I haven't wanted to do too much too soon though, but I think I'm ready to add.
Hope everyone has a POP day!

Jess

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Hello All,

Just stopping by to catch up on personals before I head out for a quick 4 miler. It is supposed to warm up today to 60 so I am actually waiting for it to warm up before I head out - LOL. After that it is back sitting and STILL reading psychology II ****! I will be glad when this course is done. I am having a hard time this week now that the half marathon is behind me. Its like I spent months gearing up for this race and now its over and I am left with that day after Christmas feeling! Trying to bounce out of it before I do some damage on the scales! Has this happened to anyone after a big race??

DJ - hang in there - the weight sometimes can stay the same for a while and then drop 2 or 3. It is frustrating though. I actually was on a plateau with my weight for most of the summer when my running was really up there and then it just kept creeping down and I hadn't really changed anything.

Bo - I think I am like your friend - I run for beer - LOL. I usually figure 1 mile = 100 calories or 1 beer (at my weight) so that's my rule of thumb. My running club is funny - their unofficial motto is that we are a drinking club with a running problem! LOL I don't always drink my miles but have them there just in case a good game breaks out (thank goodness the Red Sox season is over - now its just the Pats on Sundays!! - that should help my weight loss).

Melanie - I loved your run with Bo! I think when the weather here gets colder I will be running with YOU!! LOL I am having the hardest time uploading my pics to photobucket. Are there any other places like that where I can upload my pics to post? I have a great finish line shot from the half I would like to show you guys as well but it wont let me upload any more and I only have 5 on there.

Shannon - My bones are bigger then a size 4 - seriously!! I am 5'8" and my low weight in high school was 118 and at that I wore a juniors 9/10. 12 years ago when I got divorced I went down to 138 and that put me into a misses 10. It is funny how different #'s on the scale can equal totally different clothing sizes. Right now I am 174 and am just getting into a 14 pant my sister who is 240 is wearing a 14 pant but carries all her weight in her bust, shoulders and arms - a place I don't keep any weight. Don't get discouraged they are only numbers.

Maxie - I am anxious to hear how the recipe came out - that sounds interesting!! Thanks for the recipe idea.

Megs - double WOOOHOOO - 6 miles and down 2 - you go girl!!

Life In - good luck with W2. Sounds like you had an amazing trip - hard to get back to reality isn't it??

NH Mommy - boy we are close. What gym do you go to? I go the workout club in Londonderry. I don't usually get there until 9:30 on days that I don't run outside. Do you run with a club? GDTC is great - such a supportive group of runners. I have not done the millenium mile before but I was told to hang towards the back so you don't get run over by the fast fast runners. My best mile in the past during a 5K was an 8:20 so I don't know if its possible for me to come in under 8 - that would be cool. What is your usual jogging pace? For a shorter run (under 5) I usually hang around 10:15 pace for over 5 miles I push it out to around 10:30 - 10:45.

Cherbear - I hope you are feeling better - stomach bugs are no fun at all!! YUCKY - maybe a day in bed and some soaps will make you feel better.

Tyme2run - welcome! A lot of us are in that very same boat! Good luck

Enjoy your points!! And your runs!! Colleen

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - Nov 12-18
Hello peeps!

I completed my 1st day of week 3 this morning. I was going to repeat week 2, but I figured I'll give it a shot and drop back if I have to. SO glad I challenged myself. :-)

I've been much better with food this week. I think I'm trying to start preparing to navigate all the food during the holidays.

Bodacious, your run in the snow sounds amazing! I've only lived in a place where it snows for a couple of months. The rest of the time has been hot climates. But, I'm solar powered so that works for me. :-)

Take care and keep running!!
