Bad start on Week 4

I've been doing C25K for about 4 weeks now, I'm pretty new to running and really enjoying the program so far!

I had a few weeks where I was away on business for a while traveling around so it's been a little more drawn out than I would have liked but over the last two weeks i've really cracked on with the program,

I completed week 3 last week with no issues but i've come to week 4 and it just seems really hard.
After the 5 minute warmup I started the first 3 minute jog which was not too hard, then walking. Then the 5 minutes running was pretty tough but I felt I could go on - but after the next 3minute run I just couldn't finish! I had to go to a light walking pace and just cool down.

Is it normal for one week to be so difficult compared with last week?

Would you suggest my next two runs this week I just do from week three and try again next week or should I have a go at week 4 again?

Thanks.

Go ahead and try Week 4 again your next time out.

I finished Week 4 last week, and started Week 5 today. My W4D1 almost had me in tears -- I couldn't finish the second five minutes. W4D2 I finished the five minutes, but it was very hard. W4D3 I finished but it was an effort. So I did W4D4 on Saturday -- and that nailed it.

So just keep at it! I think you will surprise yourself.

I never following the 25K program, but I know that some days are just bad days. A lot of times the next time you go out, things will be better. I'd try it again, but be sure to mentally prepare yourself for the task at hand. Building up is hard, but stick with it. You'll be glad you did! Good luck!

I'm only on Week 2 myself and I agree with everyone else. I say at the end of the week if you feel you need to repeat Week 4 then repeat Week 4. Also as everyone else said you will definitely be thankful in the end.

I'm right there with you, dealing with W4. I'm repeating the week and maybe more than once. This was my fourth go at it. I changed to the week 4 podcast instead of my own music playlist. I am running even slower than before and I ALMOST made it. I will do this...

That is all I keep repeating to myself!

Keep at it. Some days are like that. I went out yesterday to do Week 8-Day 1. I wasn't really in the mood so told myself just go to the 1/2 point. After that, I kept saying, One more lap. Pretty soon, 28 minutes were done and I was so thrilled I went out and did it.

You CAN do it.

Ok so i didn't go yesterday I bought myself some proper running shoes instead but I went tonight!

I got through the first half of the run with little to no problems, the second three minute run pushed me but the recovery time was enough for me to start the last 5 minute run - with a big grin on my face I might add, because I knew once I started it I wasn't stopping! It was tough but I didn't give up and managed it!!!

I'm so happy (and aching!!), thanks for the support i'm happy I did it - now looms the 20 minutes just over a week away!

Iainr, your last post inspired me. I took two days off in a row, out of necessity not choice. But I'm going to do day 2 again this afternoon and I'm feeling motivated.

I hope to have the same smile on my face

week 4 was a challenge for me too. I did it twice actually because the last minute of the 3rd interval was a real mind game. when I broke through the mental barrier (I counted steps for the last minute) I moved on. Now I'm gearing up for wk5 day 3 tomorrow morning.

stick with it, you can do it!
