What are you Thankful For?

I thought this thread might be a fun way to reflect on how many of us have made the life change to begin a running program, and re-claim our health. So as we have this whole Week before we all sit down and gorge ourselves on all the Holiday Yummies, Take a minute and think about what you are thankful for and post if you want to.... I will get this started:

I am Thankful that I will GRADUATE C25K on Thanksgiving Day!! All the tears of the first two weeks, and the frustration from the aching shins are a distant memory, and I am thankful that God has willed me the strength and the body to run...... and P.S. I LOVE IT!!!

I am thankful for every moment of every day, good, bad and everything in between. I am alive, and I have a great Hubby, and the best dog on the planet....

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Did you steal my dog?!! I am sure he is the best. Thanks for the topic.

Starting each day by focusing on what wonderful blessings surround me keeps me where I need to be. Today it is my girlfriends, running, ipod, my loving husband and my health.

Have a wonderful holiday.

Congrats on the C25K graduation!!

It's hard to put into words all that I am thankful for...my family, my health, my job, my friends, just another day that I am alive here on our planet! I am thankful to be able to roll out of bed at 4:45am to meet my workout buddy at 5:00am for a jog/stroll around my neighborhood...thankful to be able to see that spectacular sunrise or sunset....thankful to hear the birds chirping and singing early in the morning....thankful that any "problems" I may think I have in my life are merely inconveniences...know what I mean? Life is, as the shirt says, GOOD!!! Have a blessed Thanksgiving....I'll be in South Carolina visiting my dad (another blessing!!!)

Love,

Kelly

I am thankful for my freedom and thankful to those who defend it.

I am thankful for my beautiful kids who tell me they love me when I am all sweaty after a run.

Oh and yes I am thankful to my Chihuahua, Vinny who loves me unconditionally.

Oh and my legs that take my on such journeys where I see so many wonderful things in nature.

What a great thread...a happy thread...yay!

I am thankful to have a wonderful family that gives me lots of support whenever I need it! I'm thankful that I have found something in life that really truly makes me shine and be happy. I'm thankful for my health and my good nature. I'm thankful that I have a life that is truly full. Finally, I am thankful that there are a whole lot of more people like me that are on that same page of thankfulness!

This is really all I need!

Way too long of a list - I'll give a few headliners

Life
Faith
Health
family
freedom
shelter
wealth
love
employment

Was at a restaurant last week with my mom who has some health problems. She needs a walker and can only cover very short distances before she needs to sit and rest. She's physically uncomfortable almost 24/7.The restaurant was really busy and we were waiting for a table. A server bolted by, moving as fast as he could without actually running. Mom teared up a bit and said "I hope that people who can do that sort of thing know how lucky they are"

Nuff said.

What a great thread. Thank you for starting it!

My sister got a heart transplant in April and if everything keeps going well, I'll have her in my life for 15+ more years.

My mom survived a blood clot and emergency surgery in the spring.

My husband. I swear God custom made him just for me.

My stepsons, and the fact that after years of adjusting to each other, I've reached the point where I know how truly special they are.

My two silly, stubborn beagles and my neurotic golden retriever.

My friends.

My home.

The great little town where I live.

And of course, running. It's changed my life, brought me closer to my husband and stepsons (all runners) and helped me make new friends. It's made me feel more confident and stronger than I ever have in my life.

Thanksgiving, indeed! I have a lot to be thankful for!

Reading back over my post, I thought of one more thing.

I don't mean this to sound like a "Lifetime Movie" but somewhere someone is having their first Thanksgiving without a loved one; i.e. the person who donated their heart to my sister. Thank you, anonymous 42-year-old woman from somewhere within four hours of North Carolina. And God bless your family.

Wow ~horsemom2b , that's a good one.

I'm thankful everyday and for too many reasons to recall here but here's some of them:

my health and my family's health

the fact that I'm running now for 7 months and cigarette free for almost 2 years

and for CR and all the awesome folks here that really help to motivate me and keep me going.

And lastly,I'm thankful for runcheffyrun, for starting this thread!

Joe

ps:I'm quite sure that I have the best dog on this planet.Sorry.

What a great thread!

I am thankful for:

my heart condition, which started me running

running itself - which has changed my life and helped me become the person I always wanted to be

my new running friends who do crazy things like meet me in the park at 5 a.m. to run 13 miles in the cold

my old non-running friends, who continue to love and encourage me even though they think I've lost my mind

losing 100 lbs this past year

the unfailing love and support of my precious, amazing, patient, sexy husband

two great, healthy boys who make every day a joy and a challenge - but I do love a challenge!

God's abundant provision for my daily needs

and most importantly my completely undeserved salvation

I hardly know where to start. Some of the things I am thankful for seem so frivolous but I am thankful anyway. Others seem overwhelming.

I am thankful for my family, my DH and 3 kids, my parents and stepmom, stepsisters and biological sisters, friends I consider family, even the friends I don't.

I am thankful for my DH's job. I am glad he hasn't been sent anywhere and am thankful he really wants to go (some families have seen DHs and DWs gone 2 and 3 and 4 times while mine hasn't gone once...YET)

I am thankful for my health and my desire to keep it. Running has helped me in countless ways.

I am thankful for my love of travel and adventure.

I am thankful for Disney World. It's what is helping me to set and stick with running goals (marathon and 15K).

I am thankful for the Spanish having ridiculously affordable child care, which my youngest DS will begin in January. Maybe then it won't take 30+ to write this much. And sanity will be mine again.

That's it for now. I know there's so much more I am thankful for but eithr can't put it in words or prefer to not have this post run the length of the page.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday!

As with most of us here I feel I have way too much to be thankful for but will try to hit the highlights. I"m sure right off the bat my wife would contest the whole best dog in the world theory. Go figure.
Of course I'm thankful for friends and family and our reletively good health.
I'm thankful for those that serve our country and wish them and theirs the best an hope they all can return home soon.
And on a more personal note I'm thankful I finally made the decision to quit smoking and jump on the running bandwagon.

And lastly, I"m thankful for this site and the many wonderful folks I feel I've "met' here. Thank you all.

wow, this thread made me tear up! GOSH so much for us all to be thankful for; however, i'm quite sure I'm the one with the best dog(s) ever!!!

Throughout my entire marathon last weekend I said THANK YOU to whoever is up there, God, Goddess, BUddha, Universe, whichever path you choose, for the ability to do what I did. It is truly a miracle.

I have an awesome family, I joined my husband's business this year and we haven't gone hungry (it was close a few times!), my wonderful friends whom I don't get to see as much as I should, and my perfect health.

There's so much more...too much to type. Thanks for making me think about this today.
