Morning! Hey I thought I started the new thread early this morning but I must have been dreaming! Or, it went into the bit bucket! LOL BTW, Thanks Chuck for that trails.com website! Found some of our trails there too!

How is everyone today? There's some nice sleeping rain falling here this morning. Restarting my 1/2 training tomorrow with 4 on Mon, 3 on Tue, 4 on Thu and 9 on Sat.

Are you ready for some football? Speaking of "football", the Houston Dynamo play for their 2nd straight MLS Championship!

Coffee's ready!

Joe

Hi all! Got in a great 6.6 miles this morning...hey that's half of a half!!!! BTW you Texans, it was 31 degrees...needless to say my buns were numb in the end from being cold. Jumped in the shower and felt like I was going to pass out. Had to sit down for a while. Note to self, drink your sport drink right after you run!

BTW, I read the last part of the weeks thread yesterday. Chuck, thong-Thursday? I am going to stick with commando all run days...I don't think there is enough body glide out there to prevent chafing from running in a thong...and besides, I don't even know if body glide is safe for that area!!! So Chuck, why don't you give it a go, take some pictures to post (right Peg!) and let us know the verdict! Actually, the last time I was cheeky in a post (the men in tights thread) some guy from CT emailed me to introduce himself...had to tell him I like it when my HUSBAND runs in his tights!

Hope everyone has a nice run or rest day! Laundry and football for me too today. Go Pats and go Colts! Alex

Wbertha - Nice 5! Sounds like you've done a lot already! Go Cowboys!! Go Texans!

Alexbobalex - Good 1/2 of 1/2 this morning!! Brrrr 31F? That's below freezing girl!!!! Actually probably doable as long as there's no wind! Yep, please stick with the commando! Don't know how anyone could run in a thong! Yikes!! on that guy from CT! I think you and Peg gave my pic on that thread a decent verdict! Go Pats and Colts? So who were you going for when they played each other?

Yeah, those are rough weeks when they play each other. I usually pick Indy, but two weeks ago when they played my husband wanted to take it a step further than our normal pool by saying that the loser has to hand wash the winners car...well, I knew the Pats were playing a better season this year and I secretly picked the Pats (circled it in pen on my pick sheet so I wouldn't get convicted of cheating). So when the game was all over and he was dancing around I laid my trump card in front of him...that is good stuff man, seeing the agony of deception on your opponents face! He keeps saying I need to pick a favorite and stick with them, but I'm not really from New England, nor anyplace really, so I just pick em as I see em!

Hey halfers!

I have been so busy at work, finally sat down last night to read last week's thread.

Joe - congrats on your race!

Chuck - I was sorry to read about what you are going through Hope things are coming together OK...

We have so many great new people as well! WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!

I have a somewhat delayed "race" report. I did an evening 8k fun run through one of our local parks, they have a large Christmas light display and it was their grand opening night where they allow people to walk/run through, then the next night it was open exclusively to bikers, then open to the public to drive through.

This was my longest run since a ridiculous bout of tendinitis sidelined me from my 1/2 marathon...and it was strictly a fun run, no numbers or timing chips. I was thankful to be back out there, my sister, DH and I ran together. So we pretty much went out and enjoyed the scenery, they handed out the glow-stick necklaces to everyone so when we were all lined up it looked like a giant caterpillar winding in the dark.

I did a run 2/walk 1 strategy until the last mile, we just cranked it out. Boy was I sore that night! Just a few weeks of running and you really have to ease back in! We finished somewhere around 1 hour 8 minutes.

It was kind of odd running through Christmas lights in 40 degree weather, but hey I guess I prefer that to the blustery snowy alternative.

I haven't checked the calendar, do we have any racers out there this weekend??

G'day all

I've got a quiet week this week - did a very long one this weekend and am taking it easy for a week before extending myself a bit more. I've had a bit of a battle with shin splints so I'm being a bit cautious. 12km along the foreshore, very nice spot and very happy with how I pulled up. That's half of a half Went walking with the family last night to explore some trails nearby, which have got some pretty mean hills, I'm told.

Weather's glorious, summer is coming down here. I might spend Wednesday at the water slide.

Hope everyone has a good week!!

Today was a struggle, longest run to date. 8 miles at 1 hour and 11 minutes. The weather was upper 30's and 10-15 mph winds. I am tired from this one with the wind. Slow run tomorrow.

wbertha: another solid run and a solid win for the Packers!!

alexbobalex: you are halfway there!!!! Way to go. I don't see anyone beating the Patriots right now.

Jeep725: I gotta believe that was a fun run. I would take that one again.

noob: Sounds like a good plan to rest. Take your time with the shins.

Joe: hope you are feeling better.

Misswendy: great run!!!!

Keep pushing everyone!
