Hey everyone.
I upped my mileage over the weekend and had 3 great runs between Friday and Sunday. Today is a DOR. I'm hoping to hit my 30lb mark by the end of the week. Hopefully with the added mileage I'll make it.
Day 36 (or 37...I cant remember, I'll have to check) of being POP.
Hope everyone has a POP day!

Hey all! It's a short work week this week, so let's hope it goes a lot quicker and smoother than last week. Had an okay weekend. Took an extra day of rest on Saturday, I just could not get out there and run, but did my scheduled 4 miles on Sunday and felt so much better. Gotta love those endorphins!

Jess-Good job with the points and the great runs!

Happy- Thanks for adding my race!

How's everyone else today? Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Wow, there were tons of posts for me to catch up on!

We went to my grandfather's on Saturday to have Thanksgiving with that side of the family. Because of that I missed my group run of 7 miles. I meant to do it on my own on Sunday, but never got around to it. I hate that. This week is a cut back week anyway, so maybe I won't fall too far behind.

Today is weigh in day, and even with skipping the long run, and having an early Thanksgiving, I lost .8 lbs! Not a whole lot, but lately, I'll take what I can get.

I have a lot of cleaning to do tonight and tomorrow night after work. My husband's parents are coming to stay with us for Thanksgiving. We're not the neatest people in the world, so we always have to frantically clean up before people come over. We are trying to change, it's just a slow process.

Maxie - Happy birthday! I think it's today?

melanie - Great time on your 5k! I'm so slow, my goal for the next one is to be under 35 minutes. Where in Alabama is your sister going to be? I live in Birmingham.

techgirl - great job on the weight loss! 2.5 lbs gone, hopefully never to be seen again!

plugginaway - could you post that pumpkin soup recipe again? sorry that i missed it, it sounds good!

cherbear - that's such a cool idea with the raffle and all. i might have to bring it up with my running group.

AEK - babies have no sense of timing! i was born early Easter morning.

Good afternoon all! Today I ran 7 miles, felt better than it had in a LOOOONGGGG time. I was really happy with it. I also weighed in today and am down 1.8 - can't be happier and hoping not to add it back on this week! LOL.

Happy: Thanks for adding my race, and I have one more to add. I am doing the Millenium Mile (just like pluggin) in NH on Dec. 30.

Gracias! Did I say last week that I made the pumpkin and devil food cake muffins? YUMMY! I am making this pretzel and chocolate bark thing for Thanksgiving if anyone is interested let me know I will post it. It IS a WW recipe....

Happy miles! Oh, what does POP stand for? I probably sound silly, but I have seen it a number of times and can't wrap my head abound what it could be....

Hi all!

I have an easy week of four 4-mile runs, a cut-back week in my training plan. I should have woken up early & ran, so now I'll have go in the dark after dinner. That's always the toughest for me, so I'm really going to try to get my run tonight.

Brandyshea - had to laugh at your comment about running around cleaning before company comes over. one time I was cleaning & my 4 yo daughter asks me "who is coming over today?" she didn't believe me when I told her that I was cleaning just to do it & no one was coming over. LOL

sorry I don't have more time for personals!

Hello All!! I hope it was a great Monday for everyone. It sure was for me. Today was my first official day in the "home office." Now that the lodge is closed and it's only myself and my two winterkeepers on property I have started working out of the house. It's WONDERFUL!!! I did this last winter as well and loved every minute of it. I'm pretty disciplined in the sense that I actually make myself get up and get dressed (rather than work in the pj's all day!)

I communicate with folks from our corporate office via Instant Messenger so I can be washing the dishes and hear the computer ding that I have a message and they are none the wiser that I'm not sitting at my computer working away Actually I don't feel too guilty because even though I may not sit at my desk from 8-5 and work steadily I tend to work on into the evening sometimes because my office is at home so in the end the company still gets their monies worth out of me

Tomorrow I start W3 of the C25K program and am a little nervous about the jump in running time. I just have to remind myself to run slow and all will be good.

Happy Monday, everyone.

I didnt run today (even though I was planning on it) because my running partner (aka. my boyfriend) had to drive a friend up to Kentucky for a family emergency. So I slacked.

WI was today and Im up 2.4 pounds. I dont know whats going on. Its my first week back to running since being sick, and I ran 16 miles this week, but its also TOM and I had Thanksgiving yesterday with friends. So Im hoping its just a one-time thing and Ill be back down next week.

Lifentheparks: Thats so great that you get to work from home. Im a grad student and I could work from home but I barely have enough motivation to work in my office, so I dont risk it.

Hello All,

Happy, NHmommy (we'll have to figure out how to meet at the melenium) - did you see the Hampton, NH 1/2 in February??? I am thinking of doing that one, will be cold but scenic. Happy did you decide if you were going to run on Thanks? Can you add Boston to the list for me it is 4/21/08? Thanks and I do hope that I will see you there to cheer me on!! I have never even been to Boston to see the marathon so it will be quite an experience thats for sure!

I have a busy day tomorrow with an all day seminar on how to take the NLN (pre-nursing entrance exam). AEK - sounds like I may need to get some advice from you someday! I am working on my 2nd career and becoming a nurse. Are you a physician or a nurse practitioner? I worked in maternity for 5 years (& 3 in ICU) when my oldest girls were younger (administrative support) and fell in love with the environment. I know all to well how babies don't wait (or MVA's & MI's) - especially when I was trying to get out of work early!! LOL.

Here are the two recipes requested:

Easy Corn Casserole - serves 12 - 3 pts each

1 can 15 oz creamed corn
1 can 15 oz whole corn drained
1/2 cup egg beaters
1 cup light sour cream
1/2 onion chopped
1 box Jiffy corn muffin mix
1 cup lo fat shredded cheddar cheese
salt & pepper to taste

Mix everything together. Put into sprayed 9 x 13 pan, uncovered. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. 130 cal; 3 g fat, 1 g fiber. I cut this into pieces - its moist not cornbread like. Very tasty.

Curry Black Bean Pumpkin Soup - adjust spice as you like, I think its perfect like this

Serves 10 - 1 cup = 1 point

1 can pumpkin - 15 oz
2 cans diced tomatoes - 14.5 oz ea
1 can black beans (drained and rinsed) 15 oz
2 cans 99% ff chicken broth - 14 oz ea
2 cups chopped onion
4 cloves garlic - diced or slivered
1 tblsp curry powder
1.5 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Saute chopped onion and garlic in pan sprayed w/pam. Mix in with all other ingredients and simmer for 25-30 minutes. If desired add 1 tbsp ff half and half to each cup of soup for added richness (haven't tried this).

Enjoy!!

Hi all
Well I lost 1 stinking lb yesterday, it is coming off really slowly now, I thought it would be a bit more than a lb as my scale was looking pretty darn low on saturday but I tend to forget that when I sneak a peak at home I am normally naked and have not ate or drank anything Anyway I am really secretly happy about the lb

I ran 6.75 miles yesterday, I figured I am going to increase my distance each week by 1/4 of a mile and get a really good base milage going thru the winter. I did the run yesterday in 1.20, we had another snowfall and it was interesting running at times, I am thinking my time was pretty slow but I was running thru some fairly deep snow at times so I cannot beat myself up over time too badly.. I wore the rubber spike things that slip over my running shoes yesterday for the first time, I did pretty well in them and as they were $8 I am glad I tried them first instead of dropping the $120 on the studded runners.

My race on Thursday will be the Tracy's Tundra Turkey Trot, it will be a 5k and I invited my DH to run it too even tho I know he could beat me! He declined the invite but may be the official course photographer if there is no corny 80's show playing on TV to distract him from my moment of crossing the finish line glory My route will be dependant on what the AK weather gives me that day, the prediction at the moment is for a warmer front to move thru, warmer being in the low to mid 30's.

I made the muffins using the spice cake mix, yummy. If I was here alone and did not have my DH here to inhale them I would have to freeze them to remove temptation as they may be hard to stop at one!

I decided I am cooking here on Thursday, haven't figured the menu yet but I know I am doing roasted brussel sprouts, I love them!

Catch you all tomorrow.

Hi all & Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone has safe travels & a great holiday!

Bodacious - I bet you are loving having DH home! be happy with your 1 lb loss - you worked hard to get rid of that pound. Isn't it funny how easy it is to gain & hard to lose... guess it's really not that funny though. lol

pluggin - thanks for the recipes!

ran 4 miles this morning & it felt pretty good - never did go last night, I'm too exhausted after dinner & getting kids settled. I'm going to change my race for Thursday & run with my running group instead... I have yet to go to a group run even though I joined the running club over a year ago. they are doing a special run on T-day and it's so close to my house I can walk there. so that's my plan.

kids are getting into trouble so I don't have more time for personals... take care everyone!

Hi everyone!
Sounds like everyone is so busy trying to get ready for the holiday and still get their runs in. I was thinking I'd defer my Thursday run to Friday as Friday is a DOR for me.

Its really warm here today. I know we won't have too many more days like this until spring and I cant wait to run this afternoon and enjoy it.

NHMommy - POP means Perfectly on plan.
It means I have strictly followed the plan, drank all my water, got my oil in, exercised according to schedule...etc etc....
Congrats on your 1.8 loss!! Sounds like you've been POP!! LOL (or Lawl as my DD says)

Bodacious - Congrats on your 1 lb.! You're moving in the right direction.

Have a POP day everyone!

Jess
