20s Monday

Ugh. Monday. But I am procrastinating at work so I will get this thing started.

How was everyone's weekend? I was on call for work all weekend so I couldn't drink and had to stay close to home. A forced weekend at home can be a good thing though since I actually had time to relax, do some laundry, all that fun stuff I never have time for.

And I figured out where the line between hard core and stupid is. I wanted to do a 15 mile bike ride on Sunday. Sort of a fun, easy workout for the day. But I kept putting it off and I ended up leaving at 10 minutes til 5 pm. Well Duh! Sunset is at 5:15 here. So It got REALLY dark and I still had about 7-8 miles to go. Granted I stayed on neighborhood streets and was wearing an obscene neon yellow jacket, but my toes started to get numb from the cold and I kept passing the streets I was supposed to turn on because it was too dark to see the street signs. But I was determined to do the whole thing. Learned my lesson though.

Hope everyone has a good Monday.

Good morning 20's,

I had a scary moment this weekend. 3 miles into my 10 miler on saturday I got this strange sharp pain in my hip. I couldn't run and had to walk and stretch it out. I tried running again and the pain came back again. So I started to give up on the run and feared my marathon training was over. Fortunately after 10 minutes of walking home I decided to try running again and the pain didn't return. So being the freak that I am I finished the 10 miler. I could feel a little soreness in the hip afterwards but I didn't run sunday and today it felt fine on my killer 9 miles of speed work.

Hi 20s,

I have been MIA for a few days because my running has been minimal. This stomach thing has me baffled. After following my doctor's suggestions of eating rice, toast, etc and taking vitamin/electrolyte replacements, I was feeling a lot better by the end of last week. I did a 7 mile run on Saturday morning.

Yesterday evening I started getting intense stomach cramps, though, and didn't run. Today I called in sick and am trying to get an appointment with my doctor. They called on Saturday morning and said they had the test results of the bloodwork, etc, that we did last week but by the time I called back, the clinic had closed. I know my doctor teaches (at the medical school) in the morning so I'm hoping she can see me this afternoon.

At this point, I am seriously doubting that I will do the 10 mile Turkey Trot I signed up for....

Hey 20's!

I've been MIA for a few weeks, and haven't been running either. I tried to keep up a little bit with the threads, and some fun stuff has been going on (sorry to pygril about the breakup, and congrats to jrpol on the boy news)

I had a crazy two weeks, in which i hit up all four time zones and racked up another 7k or so frequent flier miles. It was mostly fun, and at least the travel was related to training, not real work. I got to spend some time all over Texas (houston, san antonio and Austin) the first weekend, NJ for training for a few days, two days of vacation in NYC visiting friends and showing The Accent around a bit (he came up for one night) then Vegas for a weekend, home to Denver for tow nights then DC for training last week.

For all of that, I got a nasty cold over the weekend and didn't get anything done that I needed to. Ugh. I'm hoping to get back out running sometime over this long weekend. T.A. and I might try snowshoeing one of the days he's here (he surprised me by buying a ticket to visit me over t-giving!). We're really looking forward to having a felaxing few days together, as every other time we've seen each other there's been an agenda and lots of other people involved.

Sarah - that's a tiny bit insane about riding at night. But good for you for getting your workout in!

Proto - I hope the hip thing was just a one-time thing.

QOD - What are your typical thanksgiving plans? Do you go home to visit family every year, or does everyone kind of do their own thing?

As for me, I have managed to get home every single year, this will be my first not w/ the fam. I'm actually a little sad about it, I haven't seen my family since Labor Day, and won't until Christmas.
