Pre-dawn patrol 11-20-07

Good morning PDPers!

This morning was my last training run before my first 5K. I decided to go out there for time only and did 2.8 miles in 30 minutes. It's a little slower than I'd like, but I've only been doing this for six months. Saturday I did 3 miles in 34 minutes so at least I know i won't be last. Happy running, ya'll!

Morning, PDPers

Kitty Good luck on your first 5k. Is it a Turkey Trot race?

No run for me this morning as I'm scheduled to run a 5k tonight--my first night race! I was looking forward to a cool weather 5k, but the conditions look like they will be comparable to my June morning 5ks--just darker.

Kitty - you will do great. Once the adreniline of the race sets in you'll probably run a bit faster than you think you can! Good Luck!!

John - enjoy your rest morning and go get 'em tonight!! Be sure to let us know how you did!!

Oh what an adventure on this mild Michigan morning. We were barely out of the driveway and Brinkley is rolling on the ground as he tripped himslef up - so excited to be out for a run.

Into mile two a large truck went by which startled Brinkely for some reason, making him jump right into my path. Well, then it was like slow motion as I watched the ground come up to meet me and the words came out Oooh fuuudge! . . . Only I didn't say "Fudge." I said THE word, the big one, the queen-mother of dirty words, the "F-dash-dash-dash" word!

Luckily I had on my gloves yet, and thermal pants so no damage was done - other than to my pride. 5 miles - 9:30 pace. 300 crunches and 50 pushups.

Happy 2s-Day!!

Iseulte Good luck on your 5K, I am looking forward to your race report.

John Enjoy your rest and your evening 5K. I find I run a little faster at the evening events. I hope it is not too hot for you, you poor guy Let us know how it went.

Mary I'm glad you are OK and I really enjoyed your reference the The Christmas Story Nice run in spite of the entanglements.

Still resting the leg. It feels a bit better today. Tomorrow I'll get in an easy spin on the bike trainer and maybe just maybe, I'll enter the annual Turkey Trot Thursday, but in the walker category. Most likely I'll skip it and cheer on DW and DS. It'll be up to them to win the pie(s) this year!

It doesn't mater whether you're a lion or an antelope - when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."
