Did any ex-smokers here use "Chantix"?

Hey All!

I'm pretty embarrassed to admit that in spite of all my running accomplishments, I still have managed to puff on a few (somedays more than a few) every day. I just got my prescription filled for Chantix and took my "day two" pill a few minutes ago.

Have any of you used/tried this method? My quit date is 12-6, next thursday. I think I can do it, i'm pretty sick of smoking so the motivation is there.

i am using Chantix to quit. I am on day 21 of not smoking. I have cut back to 1 pill a day and trying that right now. It works for me quite well.

good luck and check out the ex-smokers thread every week.

ABSOLUTELY!!! I took Chantix and I swear it is the best method out there. ( my opinion ) I took it back in Aug./ Sept. and for me one month is all it took. I did not read the directions all that well and missed the part about taking it for X amt. of days before your quit date. I just decided it was time to quit, started the pill, and smoked my last 5 or so cigs. as needed. When they were gone I just kept taking the pill. I felt it worked almost instantly. I have had no cravings and no regrets since and have been smoke free since Aug.20th..Between that and your desire to quit, running and the support you'll have from this sight I'm sure you'll do fine.
Good luck, and great job!!

Andy

I quit just before the release of the pill so I didn't use it to quit but I know quite a few people that have used it and it always works! Good luck with your quit date and like PP said check us out on the ex-smokers support group, it's started sunday or monday each week, if you don't see it go to page 2, sometimes it needs to be bumped up.

Chantix was the only thing that has ever worked for me! However, keep in mind, that there are some serious side effects. Make sure you eat before taking your morning pill or you will feel nauseous! There are also some sleeping issues. But it';s all worth it -- good luck!
