Hey everyone!

One of my good friends, the one who smokes the exact brand I used to smoke, just quit on Saturday. I've been hanging out with her the last couple of days helping her out.

As for the running, I've been having a hard time of it, mostly because I've been getting bad foot cramps, but I'm a work in progress. I'm able to cross train (yay for the bike and the aqua aerobics) and run as much as I can. So, wish me luck I can handle these.

As for the smoking, 109 days everyone!

I was a pack a day smoker. Sometimes a pack and a half. For anyone that thinks they can't, you can do it. There are people here who've been quit for 3 months, 3 years, some 10 years. We're all proof the YOU CAN DO IT!!

So keep up the quittin'!

Just some words of encouragement...

I quit two years ago last month after 23 years of smoking a pack and a half a day. Since then, I've run 3500 miles, completed three marathons and lost about 20 pounds. It truly can be done! Oh... Layla... yeah, sometimes I still get cravings.

I'm glad I found this thread. I quit smoking about 6 years ago, but started have 1 or 2 here or there about a year ago when my Father-in-Law was sick. I've been saying, oh, I'll quit again when I'm ready, but that never seems to happen. I even bought a pack a few weeks ago because I hate bumming from my friends.

I'm in week 5 of C25K and have been thinking it's time I quit. After reading your posts, I know I can do it!

keep up the great work everyone. I think it is great that everyone is so support and I credit the awesome people on here for being one of the best support systems i had in the first 2 weeks.
today is 1 month of not smoking. I did w5 d3 of c25k yesterday and made it 17 minutes of the 20. I am proud of that and will keep trying until i get that last 3 minutes. 1 months ago i would have never made it.

did anyone else notice a dramatic difference in their life when they quit smoking? its kind of a weird question, but i just feel like my life is very different now.

drayz-- Abslolutely!!! Don't know for sure if it's the non-smoking, or all the running but definatly feel a difference in life in general. My wife has noticed it as well and thinks I', a totally new man.Either way, it's all connected; I wouldn't be running ( currently up to 8 miles and staying in the 9's) if I didn't quit smoking, but I probably wouldn't have quit smoking if I didn't start running. It's such a great feeling now being healthy, and fit. Are there cravings? Sometimes, yeah, sure, but you know what? that's all they are. And all it is is a craving for the habit of what once was. It's not the actual smoke that I crave but the motions of it. you know? Anyways, I"ve turned a simple reply into a major ramble here, so again TO ALL OF US HERE THAT HAVE QUIT OR ARE DESPERATLY TRYING TO, CONGRATULATIONS, GOOD LUCK, HANG IN THERE, AND KEEP TRYING. WE ROCK!!!
