Who else is in week 2?

I've noticed "support groups" for people that are at the same stage of the couch to 5k. I just did my first day of week 2 today - anyone else in week 2 that wants to go through this together?

Hi! Tomorrow I do W2D3! I will join your support group! I'm loving it so far, just got new running shoes over the weekend (Asics) and I feeling fine!

How are you liking it so far?

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Hi guys.

I am on week 2 as well. Tomorrow if I an manage to get myself out of bed will be day 2. I hope that I can reply tomorrow I can confirm that I made it out to run.

I am loving it. I love running. I can not wait until I can run a mile straight let alone 3. I have wanted to do this my whole life. Everytime I saw a runner on the street I was always very impressed with them.

I know I sure could use the support so I would be happy to join the group.

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Okay good news. I got up this morning and did my run at 5 this morning. My pace was 2 minutes slower than usual but at least I was out. I had major insomnia. But man was it beautiful outside. The crescent moon. Snow on the ground. Though not on the streets. It was a cool 31 with a wind chill factor of 23.

Up to this point I have been running at a 11 min pace but today was at a 13 minute pace.

Is anyone having a hard time at this point?

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Hi everyone! Since I am behind all of you I can get a sneak peak at what is in store for me. Superstar, I just got Asics yesterday before I saw your post - makes me feel good about my choice. I had been wearing a Brooks walking shoe, and I can't wait to see if I can tell a difference. How has everyone been figuring out their running speed? I know I'm slow as molasses (as grandma would say) but it would be nice to have a base speed. My husband thinks my fast walking between sets is faster than my run - darn! I use the podcast - do all of you?

I swim laps and do weights and have wanted to run for a long time, so I'm really excited by all of this. Day 2 for me is tomorrow. I'm in So CA so no snow, but I did run in a drizzle last week : ) So far it hasn't been too hard - but I may be going too slowly.

Hi everyone! I did W2D3 today! Off to week 3 already! Wow, that went by fast!

Am I the only one running on the treadmill? vg251....you are lucky to be where the weather is nice and warm! Here in CT, it's already frigid!

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Superstar, to me 55 is frigid : )

Congrats on making it to week three - are you feeling like your endurance and speed are inching up yet? I don't want to go too fast and frustrate myself into quitting, but I'm not sure I'm pushing as much as I should. Also, a treadmill sounds pretty good to me - it seems like my runs are all uphill (and we have big ones here) and my walks are all on the downhill slopes.

I'm doing day 2 tomorrow morning while the temp is in the 50s, before it gets too hot. Should be in the 70s tomorrow. Nice for running and swimming, but lousy for putting you in the Holiday mood...

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Hi Superstar.

I run outside even through the cold weather but I don't like running outside when it is snowing or raining so on those days I run on the treadmill. I like running outside more. I run at 5am and it is quite and beautiful outside. But when I run on the treadmill I can through in a movie or music video.

To vg.

Dont be worried to much about the speed. This is my second time through the c25k program. I did it last year and found that if I tried going to fast I got injured. So this time I am just taking it slow and easy. I would rather run slow every day than have a few good fast days only to be put on the side lines.

Tomorrow will be my day 3 of week 2.

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Thanks run4fun8910, that makes me feel better. I'm amazed at your early morning runs. Wish I could do that to get my day off to an earlier start, but there's just no way. Also, in my neighborhood at that time of day I would be sure to see some coyotes. Not a problem when they are alone, but it's scary when you see two or three together. Also, we have had sightings of a mountain lion.

I'm anxious to see what the two of you think about week 3. I'm off for my day 2 today -can't wait to try out the new shoes.

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Hi,

I just did day 1 of week 2 yesterday. I am really liking this program too. I would like to join you all too. This is the first time I have tried this. I am enjoying it so far. My sisters have been running and I finally have jumped into the "running", pun intended.

I run MWF b/t 8 and 10 in the morning. The weather has been great but we need rain real bad. I am not sure what to do once it starts, but for now I am enjoying this dryness and that it enables me to get a good start on this new venture in my life.

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Hi Vicki8 (I'm a Vicki, too). Welcome to the group. I live where its dry, too, and wondered if I would run when the rains came. We had a steady drizzle last week and I did my W1D2 in it - actually it felt kinda good. Also, I felt like a total jock when I was done

I finished W2D2 today - and want to get right back out there. I can't believe how much I am enjoying this. We are supposed to have hard rains for the next two days so I may try the treadmill for my next day. Superstar and run4fun, any tips for the treadmill?

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Welcome to the group Vicki. Enjoy the good running weather while you can. We are suppose to get a snow storm tonight or tomorrow. I hope it waits untill after my run. I have really decided I want to run outside and not on the treadmill. So tomorrow morning I am going to run outside weather it is snowing or not. (or at least that is me talking tough now. Lets see if I actually do it.) I think as long as there is no more than just a 2 or 3 inches I will go out. If more than that I think I may keep to the treadmill. But I can not do that in the morning.

To VG. That definately sounds scary. Lets stay away from dangerous animals. As far as the early morning run the hardest thing is just getting out of bed. Especially on nights that my kids keep my up. But I can tell you that the days I run in the morning I end up being on a high the whole day.

Also to the whole group. Before I started working out I could not really do well in watching what I eat. I really was on that "see food diet." Have you noticed that since you have started the program that you have less cravings for all those foods bad for us?

Hi everybody! I did W3D1 today and it was great! I actually think it was easier than week 2! I don't have any tips for the treadmill.....I actually wish that I was able to run outside, but with kids in the house and all that.....I'm a single mom, so I have to be around! I love this program and I hope I'm able to run a 5K in the spring!

How's everyone else doing?

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Tomorrow I finish W2 - probably in the rain, but I don't care - I'm having too much fun!

run4fun - I agree, it is easier to pass on the burgers and fries and keep to the veggies and chicken. Except of course when it comes to chocolate...or bread....or late night pizza cravings...

superstar - I'm glad to hear you liked your first day of W3. How great that you can stay on track with kids at home. I recently became an empty nester, and work out of the house so my time is pretty much my own, and I still sometimes feel like I'm squeezing in some exercise.

vickis8 - how goes it with you?

Re: Who else is in week 2?
Well I just finished w2d3 today. It has been raining and snowing all day. I had decided that I would use the treadmill at the fitness center at my apt complex. It was locked. So I decided to go run outside anyway.

So I did todays run in a pair of shorts, tshirt and fleece jacket. I was wet and cold when dun with my run but I completed it and felt great.

Does anyone else use google earth to measure their runs?

We had a potluck at work today. That is the worst. Nothing good for you of course.

I can not wait till we are talking about the races we just completed.

everyone enjoy your weekend.
