misswendy, I would take it easy this week to recoup, maybe a 6 miler on the weekend and a cople of nice and easy runs durring the week. then next week do a 10 mile LSD and 1 good push run up tempothen the third week no hard workouts a 7 to 8 miler lsd and then taper the 4th week.

Hello Everyone! I did my LSD this afternoon. 7-1/2 miles in 90 minutes. 18 degrees and a slight breeze! I have an off day tomorrow. Massage in the evening. That should feel good.

misswendy. Congratulations on you half! I hope my time is that good in May!

Joe, too bad about your warm and humid! This time of year it's hard to have perfect weather. Looks like you have a busy week though. Good luck on the runs.

runjr, shopping? shopping? SHOPPING! Argh! I knew I forgot something

Stan, good luck on the run, I hope your knees are better.

Laurel, Great 4 miles! Yeah daughters are great. Enjoy the time now, you have the same situation I have now. They will all be TEENAGERS at the same time!
I try not to think about the weather too much. Being in Wisconsin, it's going to be cold and damp most of the year. The alternative is training on a treadmill and I really don't want to go there. So I look at the bright side. It didn't snow during my run this afternoon!

Sheily, good work getting the runs in. good luck at work tomorrow!

runjr, good runs today! I wish I could get my daughters to run with me.

Chuck, great run today! I remember when it was 75... but it seems so long ago...

Hi all
I was going to do six miles today, but I was on the trail and there was a lot of ice. Most of the trail was too slippery to run so it ended up as 3 miles a lot of which were walking to avoid falling. Have to find a different route for my long run next week.
Have a good week all.

JOE - You are so funny! I still thought it was warm out this a.m. - was quite nice, though, as it was about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday's run! Still quite humid! Guess it's all in your perspective (or, maybe I'm just being a complainer!) - seriously, I do not complain about weather like this a.m. - just need to remember that my body prefers to run b-4 sunrise!

KEVEE - Yep - my DH and I are already bracing ourselves for puberty years with the 3 girls - should be lots of fun! Perhaps you can share advice over the years?

MISSWENDY - Hope you got those kids to bed - 8pm is the magic hour around here - ahhh! Sorry I have no training tips - you're way ahead of me! YOU GO GIRL!

RUNJR - Impressive runs yesterday - thanks for the tips on races in the north (at least north of North TX (DFW)).

STAN - Are you in Midland/Odessa, TX? Maybe I should look your way for a run?

CHUCK - How are you feeling? I love your motto (on sig. line), BTW!

WOW - just heard on the radio that we're expecting a cold front here & that temp has just dropped another 10 degrees! Stay safe everybody - heard it's icy (or going to be) in many parts of U.S.

CARA? MONNIK?? PEG???
Where are you guys?

Have a great day all - Laurel

Today, I'm feeling a little better. After my 7-1/2 miles yesterday, I found the longer I sat, the stiffer I got. I was worried I wouldn't be able to get out of bed LOL! But I'm OK and I'll be able to enjoy my day off (from running that is).

Slave, It always feels good to get out and run anyway right? It was great that you got at least 3 miles in! Do you use any footwear for not slipping?

Joe, yeah it was 18 degrees, but there wasn't hardly any wind and no snow. Tomorrow morning for my 45 min hill run it's supposed to be a mix of snow/sleet/freezing rain and temps around 25. I'll take 18 degrees and dry anytime! Good luck on the 5 this afternoon!

Laurel, I love to run in the pre-dawn as well. It always seems to get my day off and running (sorry, I had to add the pun). Remember to tell your DH to be patient (you too) and not to be embarassed about having to go to the market to buy female hygiene products

Good luck to everyone on your runs today! Everyone else have a great rest day!

Hey Laurel - I'm here.... Just been a bit tied up for a few days with a busy social life can't complain really!

The bad news is that I've slacked on my HM training schedule in only week 1

The good news is that it's a new week

I ran my 4 on Thursday as planned and actually did 4.3 in about a 11mm, then was supposed to do 6 on Sat. Sat came and the weather was horrible - driving rain and 30mph winds. Went Xmas shopping and waited for it to subside telling myself I'd go at 3pm. Then didn't get home until 4 and had to leave to get to London for my Xmas party at 6 so it just didn't happen. Thought i'd manage Sunday instead, but woke up at gone 10am (didn't get to bed until nearly 3am) and had to go back up to London for my friends 30th at 1:30pm. Again horrible wind and rain - managed to get in a quick 4.15 (in about 41 mins - the rain really was that bad!) which i'm pleased about but disappointed to have not done my 6. Still - i've got another 13 weeks to get it right and week 2 starts today with my 3.5 (or maybe 5 as I might switch them)!

Glad to see that you all did better than me over the weekend.

Monnik - You managing to run? How's the hip?

Happy running all
Cara

Good (Monday) morning, all!

misswendy--great job on your race, and great pics!

It sounds like lots of people got some good mileage in this weekend. I did 3 yesterday, a little longer than my usual 2-2.5, but not as far as I was hoping. Too many other time demands at this time of year!

Well, Dish Network turned out to be a big fiasco. The installer spent 3 hours at our house Sat. morning, and could only get a 40% signal because of all the trees, so we are stuck with cable and no Big 10 network. At least CBS had the IU-Kentucky game.

Everyone have a good week!

hey yall

DS, DH, and i decorated a gingerbread house yesterday. of course, last night after DS should have been asleep, he snuck back in kitchen and was caught eating candy!!!! three times!!!!!

joescoolagain...thanks for the advice. we are having a mexican xmas party menu. i had pork tenderloin menu made up, but DH vetoed and we're going with casual. that way, theres no new dishes for me to try out...

macd...those cable guys...!

kevee...massage...very nice even if there is no running before! i also often wonder if i'll make it out of bed...lol

chamblin...sounds like you are having too much fun!!!!! you'll get started soon enough with training.

lspence...bedtime is 7pm at our house, but last night they did not go to sleep before 9:30 or 10. arrrrrggggggggggh! oh well, it was still a nice half hour or so with DH after he got home late.

slavetodogs...an icy trail does not sound like fun for running. but hey, i bet it was great for a chilly hike.

have a great day!
love to all

good morning all, I hope to run late afternoon today outside. We have sleet and freezing rain coming in this evening.

chuck: nice run yesterday. Do you have your HM picked?

misswendy: I'm like you I run almost everyday. I just can't seem to not run at this time. I feel if I cut back too much before the HM I will struggle more. I personally wouldn't change much of your routine except the last few days maybe cut back.

Joe: good luck today in the rain. I can only use my long term memory to bring back the visions of warm temperatures.

Kevee: just stretch out as much as possible.

macd: nice run yesterday. I agree, there are numerous demands this time of year and the daylight is too short.

Laurel: the cooler air should make it easier.

Cara: It is a new week.

Good luck!

Hi everyone! Had a 6 miler yesterday. Ended up at the indoor track at the gym because of the ice storm leaving a good inch of **** on the sidewalks. Oh well. I don't have a lap counter so I came up with a genius idea: 12 laps= 1 mile at my gym so I put 12 rubber bands on my right wrist and transferred them to my left wrist at each lap. Then I'd transfer them back for the next mile. That way I didn't have to keep track of 72 laps. Wouldn't have happened! Hahahaha.

Today is a rest day. My dog loves rest days 'cause she gets to go for a nice long walk when I get home from work.

misswendy- I love your pics! And I'm so impressed with your time. I ran an 11 minute mile for my 10K so I'm in awe of a less than 11 minute for a HM. Good for you! And if you had to have eye candy there at least it was eye candy you're married to. I think it makes it better eye candy, knowing you get to keep it.

Joe- Good luck getting that run in tonight!

Slavetodogs- At least you got out there! 3 miles is better than sitting on the couch saying "it's icy out I'm not running today". Good for you! But, I'm with everyone else...BE CAREFUL!

Cara- Too bad the holidays got in the way of training. I know how that goes. You'll get back on the ball soon enough.

macd- Well, that's too bad about Dish Network. Did you see the Colts smoke the Ravens? 44-20, yay!! Now if only New England could just LOSE already... I cannot believe the Lions, oh the Lions! Why would they do that to me? They were beating the Cowboys and they LOST by A POINT?!? My heart is officially broken.

runjr- Good luck getting your run in before the freezing rain. Do you run when it's slick out? I'm such a chicken, I don't even attempt it.

Well, I should work.

Congratulations to Misswendy on a great race!
Hi everyone- weather here (north of Toronto) still not cooperating, though supposed to get above freezing later today.
Ran with the group yesterday 13kms "long" run, took forever, 89 minutes, and I was tired at the end. I don't know if its just the snow on the ground or some minor illness or what, but running has been tough most of the last 3 weeks.
Looking back at my log I have done only 85kms (53 miles) in 3 weeks, and longest run about 18kms. Still, I have plenty of time before my race in late April, and perhaps I'll get a couple of running books at Christmas to help my motivation.
Congratulations to all who are sticking with the program(me)!
Simon.

Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't posted, but it's been somewhat hectic here at work. Now that all the layoffs have taken place, maybe it will get back to "normal".

I have to say "Thank You" to everyone here. You have been such an inspiration. I found myself in somewhat of a slump since my HM (11/17). In fact, I had not run but one other time before today. I had a long talk with myself and decided that I needed to get back on track. I can't use the weather as an excuse since it's been clear and dry here.

Seems the weather is cooperating with my decision. It's a beautiful 78 degrees here. I went out for a 3.1 mile run and was both happy and disappointed at the same time. I was happy to be outside but disappointed that I was in such lousy shape. Had to walk some. With the way I ran today, it's hard to believe I ran 13.1 three weeks ago. Oh well, gotta start again somewhere.

Got a good report from the Doctor on Friday. Iron levels are where they should be. Blood pressure was up a little and my weight was up ALOT! Time for some action.

I really appreciate all the inspiration and motivation you provide.

Have to run but will BBL to catch up.
