League of Lizards - Week 4

As Lizard was kind enough to kick off a group thread last week for those of us going through week 3 - I thought I'd start another thread for Week 4. Lizard - I hope you don't mind me using your screen name.

I completed W4D1 today. I forgot to review the program before going to the gym (today was a treadmill day) so I had to guess - all I could remember was that the run portions had increased to 3m and 5m, but I had no idea in what order or what walking breaks were included. So, my run wasn't completely correct, but near enough...

How is week 4 going for everyone so far?

Notting Hillbilly: sorry to hear you're hurting. Please let us know your progress with the rest of us Week 4-ers

I'm doing Day 1 in about an hour and a half after I get done with work. I'm taking the schedule with me too because it looks very complicated and I don't trust that I will remember the increments!

My wk4d1 is Tuesday. I am hopeful that all my furniture lifting and toe taps will pay off!

I am repeating week 4 this week - and today was terrible. I took my dog out on Sat and ran some during a leisurely 1.5 mile walk and since I usually run on a TM, the road was killing my shins by the time I got home. I have brand new shoes, so that couldn't be the problem. I took Sun off completely and tried this morning to do day 1 of week 4 again and was only able to run a total of 6 min. What a disappointment.

I did plenty warm up and cool down exercises so I hope Wed is better than today was. Planning on a 2 mile walk outside tomorrow, no running!!

I have read other posts that some days are just bad days, and I'm keeping that in mind...

Is anybody else having to repeat this week?

Good luck, Sarah!

Lab, sorry to hear about the repeat. That happens though. Good for you for sticking with it.

I'm done with Day 1. It was hard. Yup. But I did it. Wed. will be Day 2.

Good luck!

TT was it hard to follow the schedule? I agree that it looks more complicated to follow. I am not using the podcasts anymore because I started to really hate the techno-type music. By the way, WTG getting through day 1, sounds like you did well!
To everyone doing their day 1 tomorrow, happy running and check in after to let us all know how you did!

Dear Lab

You are reading the posting of a woman who has repeated both wk2 and wk3, I also did an extra day of wk3 because my shins hurt so freakin' bad. Try lifting your furniture with your toes( just not at Stacey's house)(lol). Are you running on asphalt? My understanding is that the concrete and asphalt are the worst.(Asphalt being the lesser of 2 evils). I started running when I was 25(and pregnant) and had to bag it after a nasty rollerblading accident. I did 1 run on concrete and spend the rest of the week paying for it. You couldn't pay me to run on a sidewalk. If you can find a trail or dirt road, thats ideal! Good luck

Fellow week 4ers:
Hope you don't mind me joining your thread - I am repeating week 4 this week. Finally day 4 - I was able to get through
all the jogging intervals without walking too early.

I really should run tonight but just don't have the energy - I think I'll do it tomorrow night. I'm beginning to think I'm nuts for trying to start this running thing during the Christmas season. There just aren't enough hours in the day.. Maybe I'll try to get up early tomorrow morning and run/jog.

This web site has really helped me stay motivated.

Here you guys are! Glad I found you.

I completed W4D1 today! \o/ It was the toughest workout yet. I definitely had to dig deep and PUSH but I got through it! So it's on to day 2 on Thursday.

Stacey, I took my sheet with me on the run so I wouldn't forget the increments and I totally would have forgotten them too! It was really hard- definitely thought I would be sore today actually but I'm not so that's good. I am definitely proud of myself :-) Good luck on yours.

Sarah, I can see why lots of people would have to repeat week 4. It's a toughie.

How's everyone doing today- I think most of you were doing Day 1 today so I'm interested to see what you guys think.

I completed day 1 today. That was HARD!!!! I even had my new shoes, but man did I have to push really hard to make it that last minute. The first time I had to start walking a bit shy of the 5 minutes and was so frustrated. The second time I pushed and pushed to make it through the 5. Not sure if I will be repeating this week, I will see how I feel at the end. I might even add an extra "week 4" day before stating week 5. However, I am excited at how long I AM actually able to run, what a difference in 4 weeks. My legs are actually sore for the first time in this program, but I feel like I accomplished something for sure.
How did everyone else's day 1 go for this week????
