Losing the "love handles"

Ok...so I have started up running again about 5 months ago after taking the winter off.....I can tell my clothes are getting loser in some areas, but I still got them LOVE HANDLES!!!!
Any tips as to how to get rid of these? I do not weigh myself very often, I go by how my clothes fit...but those handles will just not go away! I have been running 3 days a week 3.2 miles and Sunday 4.5(training with a running club) so will up my Sunday miles every week. Will this help to rid these handles! I do watch what I eat and stay away from junk foods!
Any advise would be appreciated!!

Hard to tell you too much without more stats - like your age, height & weight.

If you have lost alot of weight, it might not be possible - some of it could just be skin. Or, it may just need some time.

If you are older...well...sag ! Sorry - but my DH who is a lean guy was complaining he needed to drop a couple of pounds - the guy is lean and muscular, and 43. I said, honey, it's all downhill from here - we're gettin' older and things are gonna sag. He most definitely doesn't need to lose.

I teach group fitness and my stock answer to the love handle question (comes up alot) is cardio and weights. Cardio to burn calories to drop those pounds with some weights added to maintain or increase energy burning muscle mass.

And, of course, there is the whole diet thing. Watch portion sizes and don't drink calories is my rule (with the exception of my coffee addiction, which has to have half & half in it).

In addition to what NorthernElf said regarding weights, cardio, and diet, you might want to consider some form of vinyasa yoga. I'm a 31 year old woman, and I've found that the active bending and stretching (when done properly and with careful attention to form) does wonders for the waistline the whole way around.

I am 40, I am 5'6 and weigh about 143 lbs!
I have gained about 10 lbs over the last few years and have since had problems trying to lose! I run 4 days a week, lift weights and do elliptical 2 days a week!

Congrats on the exercise! That can be the hardest part of the job.

Have you input your calorie consumption into fitday.com? Sounds to me like you just need to tweak your diet and/or portion sizes a bit, and you'll soon meet your fitness goals in a healthy way.

You can't choose where to lose fat from. Where your fat is deposited is in your genes.

You will have to lose weight in many other areas of the body before you get to those love handles.

Anyway, men like something to hold on to!

Did you consider getting rid of these love handles by simply......making love? :-)
