This was my 1st week of joining the weight loss group. I had a pretty bad week as far as not eating all that well and not getting as much exercise in because of time and injury issues. However, I did lose a 1/2 lb. Started last Sunday at 150 and today I'm at 149.5. I did have a couple of days where I was down to 148, but that seems to be a normal fluctuation for me. I did discover yesterday that the gym scale is about 6lbs lower than my scale here at home. It had me at 144. So, now I'm wondering which one is correct? I may have to stop at the Drs office this week and use the real scale to see where I'm actually at.

On a good note, I did a 12 mile run today, which is my longest yet. I have 6 weeks from today for my 1st 1/2 marathon. I also went to the gym yesterday to weight train, as well as jogged a couple of miles and rode the bike for a few miles. So, I'm on the right track now and ready to play catch up this week. I've really only been running lately, so I'm hoping that adding some circuit training and cycling will help my body kick into weight loss mode.

Anyone in the group on myspace? If you have one and want to, add me as a friend. It may be nice to chat with other people there as well about our weight loss and running progress.

Looking forward to a good week!!!

Having been up to 150 lbs recently, I'm pretty happy with my 147.5! Ran 3 hours and 6 minutes yesterday, so I probably won't see the loss from that until about Tuesday. At least that's what I've found. It's about 3 days after a long run before I level off and loose. I think my body says "Whoa if this is what we're going to be doing, I better hold on to everything I eat!"
My biggest problem is with my working to 6:00 pm and the 45 minute drive home, by the time I get home I'm starving, and can't wait to eat, so we usually go out and my husband always orders appetizers. Of course I end up eating my share ~ and then some!!

I'm still in-started following weight watchers this week, too. Good news-went for a 4 mile run today (well, run/walk-but I was out for an hour) and I weighed in this am at 124.5-down a half from last week. Counting it as 1.5 since I weighed myself 3 days ago and I was 126 (whatever works). Still would like to get to 114 by the end of Oct.

Planning on running a half hour tomorrow on the TM and lifting weights.

Have a good Monday everyone-
Shelley

I stayed the same this week, which doesn't surprise me... I ate decently, but I didn't ride my bike, I only ran 2x, and while 40 mins of stomach undulations will work the abs, it's not exactly high calorie burn!

This is the first time I've stayed the same since I got serious, and it's a little depressing, but I know what did it (not enough working out) and I know how to fix it (move my butt!) so I'm not worried about it. And, if nothing else, I'm still down 30 lbs!

I'm in the typical post-long run/long bike up...I hope. I was 137.6 last tuesday and 137.8 this morning. I was as low as 136.8 during the week last week. GRRRRRRRRRr. Oh well, I had a great run and a nice bike ride that spanned almost the entire length of Galveston island (its much longer than you think!)...i did 47 miles total. Tonight will be off or a swim and then back into the full schedule for the rest of the week.

I'm still here. I did W6D1 today. I'm much enjoying the no walk breaks, just because I don't have to be such a clock watcher, and since I run in the dark in the morning it's helpful not to have to try to hit just the right button to see where I am.

As a matter of fact, after I started running, I only started looking again when I had about 5 minutes to go. I think that also helps keep my pace steadier, because I don't subconsciously feel like I need to be going faster, and then have to force myself to go slower.

I don't have my official weigh in until Wednesday. Does anyone else set themselves mini goals? This week my goal is to NOT be more than 5 lbs overweight at any point in the day. Next week will be not overweight in the morning, the week after will be not overweight at weigh in, and then not overweight at any time during the day. I did the same thing around the "obese/not obese" line. Spreads out my major goals so that I have something fun to be excited about and to aim for before during and after I hit a major goal.

OK, so I was disappointed in myself for not doing as much as I could/should have to drop my 1.5 lbs or so, but I figured it's another week, back to work! Except that at 3:45 my boss just asked "Could you stay til 7? maybe 8?" So my plans to hit the gym after work aren't gonna happen today!

They say that the best time to exercise is whatever time you'll actually do it, and I know that for me, after work works. The boost I get after a long day actually makes me feel better. Morning workouts, well, I love how I feel after them, but getting up at 4:30, 4:45 to run/ride/exercise before work... I tend to roll back over when the alarm goes off and think, well, I can always start mornings tomorrow.

But things come up in the evenings sometimes, and like today, I'm thinking would it really be that awful to just bite the bullet and do it in the morning?

(Um, heck yeah!)

Better luck tomorrow!

Dani

By the way, Tracy, it's not a big deal and it won't make much of a difference, but is there a reason you changed the goal date from 10/29 to 10/31? Just curious....

tracy - What I mean by that is that right now, the BMI line in the sand that determines the difference between "overweight" and "normal weight" for a 5'5" female is at 150. So my goal for this week is to not be more than 5 lbs over that at any point in the day, not in the morning, in my jammies, after I go to the bathroom but before I eat and not in the evening, with my normal weigh in clothes on, after I've eaten a days worth of food and drank a days worth of water. <155 all day long.

Then next mini goal would be to not be overweight in the morning. That is <150 in the AM, before I eat, and in my jammies.

Then, under 150 at weigh-in, etc.

Basically I just say overweight as a substitute for the 150 lbs. Because it sounds like more of a milestone for me to have broken the "overweight" barrier in the right direction, than to say 150, some middle of nowhere weight, that is still 15 lbs from my goal weight.

Tracy - remember: denying yourself consistently is asking for a major crash! If you're craving sweets, have something sweet - something small, so it won't destroy your work, but will satisfy you just the same. Trust me, my little baggies of pre-packed servings of bite size chocolates, Hot Tamales and caramels has saved me many times over! I buy the large bags of candies, then break them up into snack bags in reasonable servings, and reach for them when wanted/needed, secure in knowing that none of them is more than 100 calories. Miraculously, it works for me. I eat a baggie or two when the craving hits, and it's not every day, either. My baggies last me quite a while!
