SEVENTH WEEK OF WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE

Well I for the first time since we started doing this would seriously like to erase last week. I ate my way through it. I have been doing this too long to get to discouarged and realize that when I return to doing what I know works, the weight will again come off. So, today is a regroup day for me, a recommit day and a back to basics.

I didn't even weight as I know I am UP. I don't want to know by how much. YUCK.

Tell us how you are doing.

Dani, I hope your dance party last night was fun and that things are looking up just a bit this morning. It was nice to talk to you on the phone. Although I am still reeling from hearing a NY accent instead of a Florida one. hehe.

How about the rest of you. I am so glad so many have hung in there with us.

Tracy

Re: SEVENTH WEEK OF WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE
Gah, I just keep getting more and more frustrated.
159.6 this morning, 41.5-31-40.5... My waist is up from what I had gotten it down to, my hips seem to be going back up (Though, of course, my bust seems willing to stay at it's new smaller size)

Of course, I can't claim I was perfect this week.
One night with spanakopita and somosas == very bad.
Plus, I was sick for a significant portion of the week (M-R) with a sore throat and breathing difficulties, so I obviously played it safe and took it easy on the exercise

Exercise for the week:
35 miles run, 60 miles bicycle

Average Day:
1797 Calories, 44% Carbs, 23% protein, 32% fat.
You can definately see that one bad night in there! I normally average around 22% fat... but that one day was like, 3400 Calories and 45% fat from those two items. That can bring up your averages for all week, I'll tell you what!

Well, I'm getting more and more frustrated, but I'll try not to be too hard on myself--
I ran 20 miles yesterday, I did it!

Tracy,
Nah, I'm just running for fun. I might pick up a marathon next spring, but no concrete plans. For now, just building and maintaining a base and getting ready to add back in speed work. My 20 miler was around 11:45 per mile not counting my several second stops at water fountains, and I'd like to get that down quite a bit.

Good luck on your 5K!!

Re: SEVENTH WEEK OF WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE
Tracy: good luck with the 5K & I guess eating is healthy in a PM week!
Green: congrats on the 20-miler & don't be bummed about the weight, it'll get back off!

I weighed in this weekend which was good and bad. Bad because I only had the courage to do it because I had been drinking lots of alcohol. Good because despite all the alcohol and 1 day of having to be polite and eating 1 or at least 1/2 a portion of all the different fatty foods prepared for us by my in-laws, I still lost THREE POUNDS!!! Yey for me (even though that won't get me to the target before Halloween, it's looking good for X-mas).

For the first time of my life I am considering to throw away perfectly good food: my MIL forced us to take all the leftover cake, chocolate mousse and cream sauce back home with us, because she was afraid she'd eat it all and blow up - at least there were two of us to eat it. My hubby does not want to eat all of it & I refuse to eat any more. Not with the way my weight is coming off - I'm not going to ruin all that for a MIL who can't control herself. Told hubby to tell her next time make less or make something healthy.

Re: SEVENTH WEEK OF WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE
Well... I am sooo excited, because I actually did a long run on Saturday (in addition to my weekday 4 miles) My foot is fine, so I guess I have finally gotten over the plantar fascitis!!! Hooray!! The trick will be not to rush things as I get going with my 50 miler training. So for now, I will weigh in on Tuesday or Wednesday so that my weight can even out after my back to back long runs.

Tracy - don't get discouraged!
Hermowninny - way to go!! 3 pounds is great. And I agree with Tracy... throw it out!!
Green eggs - way to conquer that 20 miler after being sick all week!

Where are Boosie and Dani?

Re: SEVENTH WEEK OF WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE
Hi, guys

I'm going to be MIA a few days... I'm leaving in the morning for my uncle's funeral.

Ultramom, thanks for the good thoughts, and Tracy, it was great talking to you. Yes, the dance was fun... hard to feel bad when you're doing the cha-cha. Unfortunately, dances end, and you come home to find out that sick people just get sicker as the time passes, nothing to be done about it.

hermowninny, throw that stuff away! You don't need to sabotage your good work. Better yet, toss it my way.... I seem to have eaten all my ice cream.

Have a good week ladies, I'll check in later in the week.

Re: SEVENTH WEEK OF WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE
I'm still here! I'm taking a week off of work to use up vacation time and because my sister's home for fall break.

Not much to report. It has warmed up a little since last Friday, thank goodness, but it has been drizzly for the past few days which is not so much fun. I love the Runner's World clothing calculator thing. You put in the temp, wind speed, sunny/overcast/rain/snow/other, and whether you like to be warm, just right or cool when you run, and it tells you what to wear. Very handy!

I'm trying to motivate to exercise this morning, since this afternoon I'm going shopping with my sister, and I don't like to work out to late, so I have plenty of energy to run.

I think that I'm going to finish out this week running 3 mi/MWF, then next week add a 4th day. My mom never got started with the C25K, but both she and my sister want me to look up the C25K podcasts, so maybe she'll start it soon.

My mom got laid off Friday, so we're having stressful times here. Hopefully she'll find something soon! Cross your fingers for us!

Hope everybody's having a good week!

Dani - Sorry to hear about your uncle!

Re: SEVENTH WEEK OF WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE
hello everyone, glad to see you all doing so well in the lost pounds department.

Had to go to lunch for work yesterday and I was soooo planning on having a salad, turns out we were going to an italian restaurant where there were no salads (i could not believe it!!!!). So here was the choice: pizza, pasta or steak and french fries. I naturally went for pasta, with shrimp (because fish seemed healthier than anything else), turns out the shrimp pasta comes with tomato cream sauce!!! yikes! (well, yummy, but yikes, and this after throwing out all of my MIL's cream sauce).

I picked the shrimps and most of the pasta and left the sauce in my plate as much as I could. We also had an aperitive and it turns out I went for the worst choice: port wine - I didn't have any idea which would have the least calories, turns out port wine has a lot a lot a lot, but at least it comes in small glasses. Luckily, I did have the sense to refuse the wine during lunch.

Anyway, I now know that next time
a) I should suggest a restaurant myself, one where I know there are salads
b) I should order dry tablewine or port in a very small glass or try to get out of taking an aperitive.
c) I should always ask whether there is cream in a pasta sauce
d) or safely bet on spaghetti bolognese (save the cheese) which is a safer choice than fish because all fish seems to go with cream
