New Weight Loss Challenge - Targe Date 12/31/06

Come one, come all, ok well not everyone. Only those who are nice and supportive and want to drop some pounds even with the impending holidays and the associated eating that surrounds them. We are doing it again. We have had some successes and I think that those who have hung in with us even if they didn't lose, they were better able to maintain.

All you have to do is tell us your goal and how you think we can help you accomplish it.

For me its all about accountability. Having all of you here to tell how I am doing or NOT doing is key. I have dropped over 15 pounds and am hoping to hit 150 by the first of the new year. I am at 162 now.

So introduce yourself and tell us about your goal/struggle and we will do our best to help you get there.

Welcome and Goodluck!!

Tracy

164 this morning. Didn't lose any last go out, but hey, not losing any is still not gaining any. It could be worse!

My goal for 12/31 is 155 lb.

Re: New Weight Loss Challenge - Targe Date 12/31/06
I'm very pleased with my progress this week - I weighed in on Tuesday after my trip to NY for the funeral at 149.4, and today's Sunday morning weigh in was 148.2, so that's down 1.2 in less than one week! Of course, it's weight I put back on during the stress of my uncle's illness and passing, so it's not really weight I lost... I'm thinking of it as weight I'm reclaiming!

I'm aiming for 130 lbs for New Year's Eve. That's 2 lbs a week, which won't be easy, but I'm not looking for easy, I'm after progress.

By the way, I forgot to post that my lab results came back from my yearly physical and for the first time, I have cholesterol numbers - 169 total, 102 LDL (that's the bad, right?) and 55 HDL ( the good one, yes?) so that's totally good. I was reading online that for OPTIMAL health benefits, I should be shooting for 100 or less on the bad and 60 or more on the good, so hey, that's something to shoot for at next year's physical!

Re: New Weight Loss Challenge - Targe Date 12/31/06
I'm thrilled to be joining you all again. My goals are to get in at least 4 runs a week, and hopefully keep increasing my mileage slowly. I'd love to add in some yoga and weights again, but I really don't know what my schedule is going to allow. As for weight, I'd love to be 125 by New Years. I'm about 134 right now, although, I had a horrible weekend eating wise so I may be a bit higher. Accountability is definintely the most valuable support for me, so just reporting to you all will hopefully keep me on track.
I hope you have a great week!
Katie

Re: New Weight Loss Challenge - Targe Date 12/31/06
Well, I weighed in today and I am down to 136.7 from the 143.3 Ibs I weighed when I joined the previous challenge 6 weeks ago. That's 6.6 lbs or a little over a pound a week, I'm so excited!!!

So you bet I'm joining this challenge as well. I'll be aiming for similar loss during the next ten weeks.1.1 lbs a week X 10 weeks = 11 lbs, so my goal weight is: 125.7 lbs or exactly 57kgs (which is what I weighed for most of my adult life so I'll be fitting into all of my favorite clothes again!!!!).

I am determined to make this work and very excited about the fact that it actually might work. When I joined this thread, I was quite pessimistic about weightloss, especially because I thought there was no other way about it than going hungry. So happy I've found a way around that (little portions of healthy food whenever I feel hungry, nothing whatsoever when I don't and no empty calories)

Good luck everyone & my thoughts are with you danilynng, these have been hard times for you, but you seem to be going strong!

I'm in again. I trailed off at the end of the last challenge, but I'll try to be better this time! I did end up making my goal. Last Wednesday I weighed 140.5 I'm not expecting to lose this week, though, since last week I lost 3 lbs and I'm closing in on TOM. Just aiming for 140.5 again. My goal for the end of the year is 129, so 11.5 lbs. That's my Ultimate Goal Weight, so after that, I'll be switching over to maintenance. Woo!

Last week I ran M T W F * 3 miles. I'm going for the same this week, then next week adding Th.

In other randomness, I got a C9 dryfit shirt on sale at Target, and I like it. My first dryfit shirt, and it works great. I'm going to have to grab another one sometime, because I want to wear it everyday, but I don't want to have to wash it everyday. And let me tell you, it gets ripe after one wear. Ew.

Me too, me too. I would like to join. I am about 126 and would like to get to 118 by year end. I have been fighting ITBS so I am slowly getting back into things and trying to add weights and swimming to the schedule. I am really looking forward to the accountability and support.

Count me in! Just started South Beach Diet today so I'm counting on some loss. I weighed in this morning and was shocked to see my weight up to 157! Yuck! Highest ever. My goal by Dec 31 is 145. My ultimate goal by next summer (getting married) is no higher than 140 so I've got my work cut out for me. Not running is not helping. Trying to get rid of shin splints by taking time off. I won't start back until January. Biking, spinning, weight training and yoga instead. Good luck everyone..we can do it!

Re: New Weight Loss Challenge - Targe Date 12/31/06
I want to join!!!! I've never posted before but I have wanted to, and I really want/need to tone up a bit and definately need some accountability!!
I am not sure of my exact weight, I will weigh myself tomorrow morning, but I am around 138 and my goal weight is 125 by 12/31.
I run 6 days a week and swim 3 days a week. I have been training for a 30 minute 4mile TurkeyTrot. Getting in the exercise is not my problem (I have to exercise in order to relieve my stress), I struggle with eating when I am not hungry- especially while I am studying, and having any kind of sweets I want, anytime (thanks to cafeteria eating and lots of social events- I am a college student)
So my goal is to skip on the sugar, which does bad things to my body anyways and to watch the snacking.
One question I have: what should my calorie goal be each day? I have seen so many numbers..... I am 5' 7" and I average about 25-30 miles a week.

I like what you said danilynng "I'm not looking for easy, I'm after progress" I have that mindset towards running, I want it also when I am tempted by something I should not be eating!!!
Alright, that is it for now. I am looking forward to having a group to check in to.

Awesome! How are you doing so far? I am hungry! I'm going to hang in there though. And I'm hitting the store after class tonight for some of that ricotta cheese to make the dessert out of. I need something sweet!

Re: New Weight Loss Challenge - Targe Date 12/31/06
i'd like to join as well. over the past several weeks, i've seen the challenge posts, but didn't want to start in the middle. i think this will be great for accountability. i finished the c25k several weeks and am starting week 2 of HHST program. i've only found one other person doing the program, and there isn't a weekly posting for that, so i'm worried that without that the posting, i'll be slack. this will definitely help. in august, i started eating healthier and have lost 7 lbs so far. i'd like to kick that up a bit, but i have to stay away from the chocolate and since tomorrow is halloween...it hasn't been easy. i currently weight 199 and would like to be at 189 by the end of the year, only 1 lb/week, but I want to be realistic. thanks to sweetiepie for starting this.

Actually, really great! I got hungry so i had a cheese stick and some scrambled egg whites! I find that sugar free jello (i eat sf hunts snack packs because they have no gelatin) hit that sweet spot if you top them with a dollop of cool whip. Hang in there, it will all be worth it!

Re: New Weight Loss Challenge - Targe Date 12/31/06
Hi..Just found this and after throwing a "chocolate party" for my sisters 40th b-day the timing is perfect.
Been running for 7 years and my weight never varied more than 5 lbs. but really want to get to 120 for Boston. So if I get half way there by Jan. 1, it will be a sucsess. I'm at 128 now and even been trying the power bar diet which had a quick effect but then tapered off.
