Chocolate Milk!!!

It's good for you, duh! They needed a study to figure this out?

Look at the nutrition label and compare it to Gatorade. An excellent recovery drink.

It's funny that the study is basically inconclusive based on another study having different results. Medical studies are so freaking worthless.

the study by the scientists from Indiana University was supported in part by the Dairy and Nutrition Council.

Gee do you think the above might have had any influence on the scientists ?

But why chocolate miilk?

why not regular milk? strawberry milk? vanilla milk? why does it have to be flavored chocolate? does the chocolate part of it have some magical effect in recovery?

Recovery drinks are about two things:

1) Protein to repair your muscles
2) Simple sugars to deliver the protein to your muscles fast enough.

It is commonly accepted that 4:1 is the perfect ratio of sugars to protein. The added simple sugars from the chocolate syrup make chocolate milk excellent for this. With plain milk, you would need to add dextrose or such.

I don't know about vanilla/strawberry milks and their sugar content, if they are the same as chocolate, my guess is that the reason chocolate is more popular is because it's more widely known and liked, widely available, and cheaper.
