That was me! I've got my whole running club onto them. They're so good! And so good for ya! I usually just put like 1/4 c of them on the bottom of my cereal bowl and add the other cereals on top (I like a mix). I'm also a big Cheerios fan...and Lucky Charms is another one of my favourites, but that's a treat! Great minds think alike!

i'd say kashi go lean, but not the crunch. it's really good with a banana and soy milk. you won't need sugar and i don't think there's a lot in it already. i like oatmeal too, with sliced bananas and natural peanut butter.

Why all this no/low sugar nonsense? If you are eating cereal after a run, your muscles need the simple carbohydrates to recover properly. If before, then they need simple carbs for fuel to perform. Now I agree with eliminating highly-refined sugars like in sweety-puffs or whatever, but most "healthy" cereals are naturally sweetened.

That's why I suggest adding a banana, berries to the cereal to provide some carbs and sweetness which isn't processed and an addition to the cereal.

I can't handle the special k--- it's too low cal for high activity, I think.
Doesn't keep me from being hungry...

One bowl of Raisin Bran or regular (non-instant) oatmeal, on the other hand... excellent!

Steel-cut oatmeal with brown sugar (probably more than I should) and raisins. Makes me feel like a mighty strong lass!

Another vote for the steel-cut oatmeal--I've been making it in the crockpot since I saw that "Crockpot oatmeal" thread! Even 1/4 cup makes a huge bowl once it's cooked. I also use the brown sugar and raisins, as well as about a tablespoon of finely chopped walnuts sometimes. I've also got this frozen berry blend I found at Sam's Club-blackberries, raspberries and blueberries, $7.44 for 3 pounds and I think 90 calories per cup, and sometimes I'll do that plus some walnuts with the oatmeal. It's really good.

Htappy--do you put your raisins in after it's already cooked? It seems like putting them in the crockpot overnight might make them more like grapes than raisins so I haven't tried that yet

Another vote for oatmeal, not instant or 1-minute.

Bob's Red Mill makes great hot cereals as well, such as 10 grain.

Food for Life makes some great sprouted grain cereals that you could have hot or cold.

Out of you choices the Kashi go lean looks best, although I personally would avoid it because of the soy protein.

Another vote for oatmeal! I do steel cut oats, with cinnamon and vanilla, with a berry blend on top. I'm going to have to get some of that Sam's mix, right now I get my from Schwan's.

My other favorite cereals are the Strawberry Yogurt Burst Cheerios and Quaker Crunchy Corn Bran Squares. Neither of them is really a hearty breakfast, but I like them anyway. Yogurt Burst I only eat on the weekend, when I'm not running and don't need something to stick to my ribs. Corn Bran I eat with yogurt as a snack. Crunchy, very slightly sweet, and quite fiber-y.

I enjoy Steel cut oats with bananas, berries and cinnamon and sometimes toss in some flax seed and/or protein powder.

My two favorites breakfasts are Oatmeal and whole wheat pacakes, both with blue berries.

I mix old fashioned Quaker Oatmeal, 1/2 cup oats to 1 cup water, with 2 dozen frozen blueberries (Walmart Brand ... I'm cheap) in a bowl, then microwave for 3 minutes. After its cooked I sprinkle with cinnamon and stir. Sometimes I add 1/2 banana.

However, you should know that eating like this could cause you to out live your 401K.

I put my raisins in the last 5 minutes of cooking (I cook mine on the stove), but I like them kinda fat!

Your berry idea sounds great- I'll have to give that a try, thanks!

This is NOT particularly healthy, but in my oatmeal, sometimes a TBSP of peanut butter into them. Then raisins, walnuts, whatever...I love Oatmeal.

I love Kashi Autumn Wheat. It has 7g of sugar and 6g dietary fiber.
