Running at night - Stomach problems

Hello,

I have always been a runner who has preferred running during the morning or in the afternoon. But now, as I am beginning training for my 2nd marathon in May, my new running partner is only available at night. So I have started to run at 9 at night. My problem is, I have experienced stomach issues at the beginning of every run and I even had to cut my run short tonight because of it. I eat dinner around 6-6:30, 2 1/2 to 3 hours before running, yet when I ran in the morning I could eat breakfast 30 minutes before my run and feel fine. If anyone could offer suggestions on what I could do to stop these stomach problems at night please let me know. I do not want this to be a recurring theme throughout the entire training phase.

Question...are you eating a light dinner before your run or a heavy one? Maybe you need to start a little earlier with dinner, like 5:00.

I frequently had to hide in the bushes following evening runs.

Eventually I released that I only had these problems when I had eggs for breakfast some 12 hours earlier.

Vary your diet and make a note of what you have eaten and what problems occur.

I now only eat eggs on rest days or following morning runs.

I'm sure you did; but I think you mean "realized"

For me at least, it just took a little getting used to. Really the only thing that bugs my stomach now is straight red sauce. I think trying different foods can't hurt, but for me it was just something I got used to over the months and it gradually went away.

HAHAH! You just made my day. (Yes, my life is that boring.)

Primetime,

I'm the opposite, I prefer running at night. (Morning are mine enemy.) Even so, I still have problems trying to run after a heavy dinner, even with a few hours in between. If it's possible, try eating a lighter dinner and then snack a little after your run.
