Is beverage research tied to corporate dollars?

Note the attached article that was on the front page of the " Boston Globe " today regarding the signifcantly different results of beverage reserach with or without corporate ties.

And you find this surprising? Why would you think companies would even fund studies unless they know in advance that they are likely to be positive?

The only thing valuable in the article was the final paragraph:
