Losing weight while training for 10 mile run

I am training for a 10 mile run in May AND I am trying to lose weight. It has been a goal of mine to run this race since I started running one year ago. I also need to lose weight (about 50 more pounds total). Is it safe to do both at the same time?

Some background. I've run up to a 6 miles run and 15 miles in a week about 3 months ago and then took 2 months off. I am back up to 3 miles a time. I know I can get up to 10 miles but want to be safe about it while still losing weight. I would like to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week.

In my opinion 2lbs a week is a bit harsh since your body will be trying to repair from the running....

I think itsabout 3500Cals per lbs, so 2lbs, 7000cals, 1000 cal deficiency a day :S

I would say if your taking it easy with the weight loss, 1lb a week on the outside, so 500 cal deficency daily, should be fine...

I'm slowly loosing weight while training for a HM, but well at most a 1lb a week....

Thats just my opinion, I've seen to many of my , well mainly female friends(To many uber skiny models in magazines for you), cut there diet stupidly and try to exercise a lot and then crash
