Re: What's your favorite cereal?
how is it that no one said anything about craclin' oat bran? we don't have it often, given that it seems to be priced by the gold standard, but when we find it cheap I usually eat it as a dessert only, as it's certainly not healthy.

i discovered honey bunches of oats w/ almonds because it was really cheap at costco, and I love it. all my life I've been more of a hot cereal person; I could never finish a full box of cereal without getting bored of it. we always have the honey bunches though.

mmm, steel cut oatmeal w/ brown sugar. that sounds good.

as for hot cereal, though, cream of wheat made w/ milk w/ brown sugar on top was always my favourite.

MH, cracklin oat bran is awesome but loaded with fat! I can't buy it! It's addicting! And I love Honey Bunches of Oats and have been addicted to that for the past couple years but just recently completely traded it out for Grape Nuts w/ ground flax seeds -- never fail -- which really does keep me from getting hungry at the 10th AM hour and coming off that sugar high. It's been a great change.

I actually saw it in the grocery store in the organic section! My kids thought I went nuts, standing a laughing at the box!

Re: What's your favorite cereal?
I love cereal, too. Oatmeal in winter and on cool mornings, Post Raisin Bran (provides 1 serving of fruit), and Peanut Butter Puffins are my current favorites. I always have Cheerios in the house, always good for a quick breakfast, makes a great dessert or late night snack; and I love Special K Red Berries.

Comfort food: Oatmeal but not any oatmeal and not that Quaker stuff either. Steel cut oats oatmeal. Once I tried that, I could never go back to the regular grocery store variety. It takes a while to cook though. Bring to boil, stir for 5 minutes on med-low heat, remove from heat, cover for 1 minute. Eat. I like to add a little nonfat milk to it so it's almost soupy. No sugar. So good. I that for breakfast about 4x a week. That and a small glas of OJ.<HR>

I love those steel cut oats, too. You can add dry fruit, like chopped apricots, as you boil the oats; it's delicious.

Re: What's your favorite cereal?
steel-cut oats with no-transfat margarine, brown sugar, and frozen blueberries dumped in towards end of cooking..........YUM!

BTW- love Kashi cereals, but the Go Lean Crunch and similar flavors give me thunderous flatulence!!! Anyone else notice this?
