Thanks Chris. 3 years ago I was at 220 (I'm 6 ft) and I lost 54 lbs over about 9 months with a combination of eating better (and less) and running so I know what you're going through! It can be very slow at times. Now, over the past 6 months, I've gained back 10 of those pounds so I'm trying to lose them again - it sure takes constant vigilance. And after having babies it seems easier than ever to gain a few here and there (and harder to lose them!) It sounds like you are running a LOT - maybe rather than pile on the miles try to shake up the routine a bit - do two shorter runs a day, morning and evening, or bike or row or swim a few days for a few weeks, or add some weights or something. It's easy for the body to get in a rut and expect all that exercise - and you don't want to train yours into thinking you'll run 80 miles every week!!!

Well, I run ultramarathons, so the training is actually pretty inline with what I should be doing. I average about 55-60 mpw, this was just a long week (last long week in a training cycle before a taper to the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon). The cornerstone of ultra training is back to back long days, which were 29 and 21 mile mountain trail runs last weekend (plus another 20 miler and some scattered short stuff earlier in the week). I'll probably actually do a couple more 80+ weeks before a 50 mile mountain run in late September...
I do often double up my runs morning/evening though... it's the only way to get them in sometimes. It's hard to find 5 hour blocks of time to get in long runs during the week (tonight is a 4 hour 21 mile trail run that will go from 8pm to midnight)! Adding weights is a really excellent idea. I need to find the time to work that in... that's a great way to lose weight.
54lbs is a VERY impressive loss...great job!
