I think even 0.3% E.coli is way pushing it.
The only number I could find in a quick search for maximum upper limit of E.coli in municipal water was: 2,000 e-coli/100 ml. Volume of E.coli is 1x10^-15 L. 2000/100ml times 1000 mL/L times 1x10^-15 x 100% = 2x 10^-9 % E.coli. I wouldn't necessarily consider that significant, especially considering that most E.coli is completely harmless to humans. Every fruit, vegetable, grain, legume, and piece of meat we eat is also drenched in poop, that doesn't make it unhealthful. I'm much more afraid of chemical contaminants like pesticides, dioxin, plastics, etc. in water, but I can't find data on how much of those is actually in the water where I live, so I can just hope my water filter is helping and I'm reducing my exposure elsewhere.
