Aother Conspiracy Against Atkins Adherents?

I bet that would be the typical reply. Grains and fruit are recommended.

These reports have been all over the place over the last week or so. They're one of the reasons I'm gonna try going vegetarian for a short time. 11 ounces of red meet per week? Hardly seems worth it, struggling through the week craving that burger, indulging, then waiting another 6 days for a hunk of oh so tasty cow. So, I'm giving it a shot.

They say that the reports are not likely to change anyone's habits. I'm going to be an exception to that.

after reading The Omnivore's Dilemma I wonder how much of a difference it really makes to choose organic grass fed animal meats rather than unnatural grain/corn fed animal meats. I doesn't seem that many studies make the distinction, but I haven't really done any research on the matter.

You have a very distorted view of what 11 oz per week represents. For a normal person eating a normal healthy diet, 11 oz of red meat represents approximately three meals per week of red meat. This is not the the absolute limit on meat so any normal person could eat a healthy diet fully in keeping with these latest recommendations and enjoy meat meals nearly every day.

Certainly these recommendations were not any sort of endorsement nor justification for entirely excluding meat from our diets.
