Core/mid section training

I am starting a new 16 wk marathon program that is giving me an extra day of xt. Currently running 25-30 m/wk.

My cross train days usually consist of walking, stationary bike or swim and once in awhile rest!

What do others do for building a stronger core? My mid section and upper body is in need of strengthening. Pilates? Yoga? Crunches?

Any suggestion would be great.

Happy running.

I do crunches using one of those big balls. I lay on it with the middle of my back and roll totally forward towards my feet and roll totally backwards til I'm arching my back. Not sure if it's the ultimate in core work but it's cheap (the cost of the ball) and I do it consitantly. In other words, it hasn't become a cat toy.... LOL!!!

I like Tae Bo. I'm using the Bootcamp series of DVDs and find that they give you a good core body workout. The Elite Bootcamp series has spot training videos if you need to target one particular area, uppr body, lower body, Abs, etc.
