I will also be doing the Crim for the first time this year. How has your training been?

My first Crim too! Never ran anything other than 5K's. Also running the Chicago Banco 1/2 Marathon on Sept. 9. Been training for 10 months. Quite excited!

The CRIM is a fun race with awesome fan support. You'll have plenty of aid stations, though sometimes the volunteers are a little slow and you'll have to stop to get your drink, or pass until the next one.Only 1 hill in the first 4.5 miles and then you hit the Bradley Hills..... nothing tough for good runners I am sure, but they kill me every year! After Bradley, the course is kinda rolling but nothing huge.

IMO, the best parking sport is behind the City Hall/Police/Fire complex which is located on E 7th Street and Saginaw. If you get off on the Saginaw St Exit from I-69, head north and you will turn right just after the Pawn Shop and Gas Station. There are 2 parking lots back there. Plus, you are only about .5 or .75 miles from the start line.

Not sure if I am running it this year. Coming off an injury and have only run a 5 miler so far. Might just show up and run/walk just because it is so much fun.

Thanks for the info!

Are the Bradley hills pretty steep, then? I did the Run Thru **** last weekend, and it had quite a few hills, but none that were too horrible, pretty gradual inclines.

The Crim hills are nowhere near as challenging as ****.

Awesome! I was hoping for a better time at Crim, so if it's not as tough, I should be fine. I wasn't quite sure how to pace msyelf for **** because I knew how hilly it was, and wanted to be sure to save enough to make it through till the end...now that it's over, I know that I could have gone faster. I will be sure to pick up the pace for Crim!

The one year we did get decent weather for both races, I was about a minute faster at Crim (57:hi vs 56:mid).

Run Thru **** seems to get better weather though earlier in the month. Last year I did well there, completely tanked at Crim, then ran low-54 for the last 10 miles of a 20-miler a week later. Go figure. After that I vowed never to run it again.

Good luck though, better fan support than most MI races.

I am not a great runner, 90ish minutes for the CRIM, so the Bradleys do take a toll on me. Most decent runners like Andy probably don't even notice them.

Anyone also doing the Milford 30K on Labor Day? I am a little nervous about that one, too, but have heard that it's a really good training run for the Free Press, which is what I am working towards.

I hear ya! It's just good that you continue to get out there and tackle them, knowing that it is going to be a difficult task. Good for you, and good luck with them this year!

Trust me, I felt them, especially when it's 100% humidity! But I went to college in Da UP so I am more used to hills than some.

Ahh... I miss Da UP eh. Were you at Northern or LSSU? I was stationed at KI Sawyer (Gwinn, near Marquette) for 3 years and loved it! Would move back there in a heartbeat... other than the fact that there are no jobs and my family didn't like it.
