Re: I let it get to me...
When i run i always wear a shirt and somewhat baggy shorts. I don't look gay at all wearing this but people still yell "******" and other remarks. It ****** me off but i never get down.

Re: I let it get to me...
When I run at the gym everyone stares, including girls, guys, and gays.
Apparently I attract a lot of gay guys, which nieve as I am did not realize at first, but I hate running any considerable distance w/o running shorts.
If I'm not in the mood I'll wear a little longer shorts.

Aside from people staring at my legs I have gotten no actual comments from gym goers; but outdoors the worst has been someone scream from a car "your c0ck is showing", (it wasn't, but, oh, how embarassing)

My grandmother died of this disease, my mother has had it and my sister might have it....I am not unsympathetic, obviously, but i still would wear a pink shirt instead of pink shorts....not because i personally care but because the world is full of nuts, as well as Brown82799s who are too dumb to make the connection you mention.....all my best to your wife.

Re: I let it get to me...
OK, the majority of this thread has had me CRACKING up! "Brush your tooth?" Hilarious! And the back story about how the guy saved up for his scooter? Sooo funny!

I don't think it's just the shorts; it's the shorts AND the baseball cap AND no shirt. That combo is a bit "gay".

That having been said, my response is, "Screw 'em!". Wear what you want to wear. And I'm with one of the initial posters who recommended that you carry "bear spray." (By the way, I just think that the concept of bear spray is HILARIOUS). I would DEFINITELY spray the next *&% who had something to say to me on my next run.

Happy trails!

Re: I let it get to me...
This is why I enjoy living in the city - Atlanta, no less. The Gay Mecca of the South, where I just assume that every guy I see is gay before proven straight.

But really, there's always someone out running here - one on every block. If people wanted to scream from their cars or their scooters, they would have too keep their heads out the window for most of the ride.

Re: I let it get to me...
People can be stupid and most don't realize the ramifications of derogatory language like the one hurled at you. The real tragedy here is not whether or not you look gay, it is the fact that there is this uneducated intolerance mouth riding around your town on a scooter. This should be the topic of this thread.

Most people could care less if you were as flamboyant as Angel from RENT or as straight as Joey from Friends. You know what you are and if you are concerned about what you are projecting, the last person you should take fashion advise from is a dude on a scooter!

Most people's lives would be so much better if they stopped worrying about what others thought about them.

Re: I let it get to me...
I get yelled at on every single run during the summer an average of five times. They actually get angry when I ignore them. It used to get me angry. Now I don't care. The only thing that bothers me is when they throw things. I've had bottles thrown at me and fruit. They never hit me though. The kicker is that I live in a vacation area it's not what you would think of as a bad area.

Re: I let it get to me...
Can you spell J-E-A-L-O-U-S? Sounds like neurotically so. You just keep running in your short shorts and writing about the perfect atmosphere . . . sounds like the kind of "real" man we women keep saying there aren't any more of . . . you will find the right woman soon enough.

Yeah, the scooter image was so ironic. I am very sorry that happened to you. Male or female harassment is not funny in any situation, especially from someone who sounds so disturbed that he comes back around like that for another shot at you.

On the up side, he is the consummate coward. I sincerely doubt he will ever return.
