Indy Classic date change?

Does anyone know when the date changed on the Indy Classic Marathon from Sept 8 to Nov 3? I was going to run the 1/2 as a training run for the Indianapolis Marathon in Oct, and just wondered how long I have been out of the loop! Thanks!

It just got changed a couple of days ago and there seems to be a lot issues with the race organizers. I read an article in the Indy Star that makes me wonder if the race is going to go on at all. But if you are in the area and want to run a half I've heard on a different message board that there is a half down at IU in Bloomington that same weekend. Not sure of the website but I think the race is called the IU Mini.

Have you run the Indianapolis Marathon before? I've always wanted to come down and run it but it conflicts with Chicago which I like to run, too. Maybe someday...I've heard lots of great things about it.

I did the Indy Marathon quite a few years ago (2000, maybe 2001?) and it's definitely "quiet".

I recall the course being pretty flat (OK, not "Chicago flat", but very flat) and empty.

No complaints on aid stations or anything else.

Just a nice low-key event.

Enjoy!

What???? I have registered for the Indy Classic Marathon as my first Marathon. How could I not know they changed the date???...wouldn't they atleast send out an Email.

I am tapering for a race that's not happening Sept 8th....wow. I really wanted to race this one because it is suppose to be a flat course, and close to home...which I think would be good for a first timer like me.

I am not sure who told you the Indianapolis Marathon in Oct was hilly (I think I remember you posting that), but it's really not! There are only 1 or 2 hills that are very short distances...just a thought!

I had a couple of runners tell me the first half is rather hilly, but the second half is flat. I am going to go ahead and run the Oct race. Actually, I could use the extra time to build up my mileage more....these hot temps are rough.

Hey, thanks for the good informatiom knifey.

The Indianapolis Marathon isn't hilly. It's also really got little to do with Indianapolis . I'll be there.

I was supposed to be at Indy Classic too, and spent lots of money on airfare and hotel to do it. I only knew they had moved it because someone told me.

The whole thing has been REALLY REALLY shady.

Here's a link to the newspaper article:

Someone from this very thread is quoted in the middle.

Man, I was REALLY surprised the race is full with 13,000 runners, for their first Marathon, WOW.

Kinda sucks that allll my training went into this race, to only be changed....and I heard it through the grape vine basically, and I was registered...oh well. So much for all those miles in miserable heat...I know, I will be stronger.
