hill or track interval training

I am training for a half marathon and would like opinions on what I should concentrate more on hill or track interval training.I am running about 45miles a week with one tempo run a week right now and plan on adding another day of track or hill interval training. My goal for the half is 135min.It is flat here so most of my runs have very few hills. The race is about 2 months away and does have a couple of hills.Should I hit the track or the largest hill near me for speed intervals or a little of each.

Thank you

I vote for hills.

If you want to run 10 minute miles for your half there is really not much need for speedwork.

Speedwork is for sprinters. Okay you didnt say anything about speed just intervals. Intervals for half marathon need to be long at least 1/2 mile repeats. Why not do a hill workout one week then a track workout the next week?

I would suggest upping your weekly distance. If you are planning on running 13 minute miles, you would be much better off to get that weekly distance to at least 60 mpw.

How many times per week, or how often do you have training runs exceeding 15 miles?

I favor hills (all my races are hilly), but you might consider alternating weeks between hills and track. Maybe one will standout as better for you.

You've got to to get the hill workouts factored in, there will be hills and they can kill.

Once in a while do your speed workouts on hills. Even 20-30 second sprint intervals will make you faster in a 1/2 or full. Ask the Kenyans on this one.

Factor in your long runs with hills too.
