Effective detergents

What have you found to be a good detergent for washing your technical clothing? I don't want to buy anything specialized, i.e. I want to just be able to get something at WalMart, Target or a grocery store. I've recently started using Wisk which seems to leave my clothes fresher than Tide.

I'm curious to know what other "normal" detergents people find effective.

Thanks,

Re: Effective detergents
I have found that most of them work fine, don't use any fabric softener, I've used Tide, now Purex. I add a little white vinegar and sometimes baking soda to mine. I also use the vinegar in the little downy ball and don't use any fabric softener at all anymore. It works great.

Arm and Hammer Pure and Free. Sometimes I add a bit of 1000 mule team.
Do not use softeners and hang to dry.

Whatever is on sale. No need to overthink it.

Arm and Hammer essentials from Walmart. Add a couple of teaspoons of baking soda for fresher smell.

I read somewhere it's the animal fat used in liquid soaps that gets trapped in the fine pores of technical clothes that smells. So any soap without animal fats should be good.

Re: Effective detergents
I only used powdered detergents for technical clothing. Some of my more expensive pieces state on the care label to wash with powdered detergent. Apparently, liquid detergent can clog the pores as it were and wreck the breathability and wicking properties of some fabrics.

Arm & Hammer worked for me, I had a shirt that smelled so bad my eyes burned, I washed it in that and can wear it again.
