I'm a 31 yo male, ~199lbs and mine is 21-22% according to my bioimpedance scale. I don't look it though, as I don't have a runner's build. I have a linebacker's build. Even though 21-22% is fairly high for my demographic, most folks think I look slim, and I don't have a noticeable belly under clothes. My fat is spread out all over. I'm new to running, and both my weight and %BF are slowly declining, as I'm actively trying to lose weight.

EDIT:
Ok, so I'm interested in this and just cruising the net, so this test[/URL" target="_blank"> told me I was 18.4% BF. There are inaccuracies in both, so I don't know which is more accurate. My bioimpedance measurement is daily in the mornings right after my workout but before eating anything. I could be slightly dehydrated then, perhaps leading to a higher number, according to wikipedia's info on %BF testing.

i'm currently at 13.9 percent body fat and i weigh 170 and am 6'3. i'm continuing to drop weight (40 lbs in the past 5 months) so that number should keep dropping.

I am interested in finding a test that determines this. Is there anything I can do at home or on the internet or do i just have to do it with a fitness instructor with lots of equipment?

Callipers and charts. Cheap, quick and reasonably accurate, especially for monitoring changes.

120 lbs male 5'7" 6% body fat.

Getting below 10% is tricky.

Bioimpedence scales are not very accurate. They make a measurement but also run it through a set of calculations that have a lot of assumptions baked into them. Calipers can be pretty accurate if the person using them is skilled. There can be wide variation between two people using calipers. The best is a BodPod or underwater weighing (forget the technical term for that).

Male-44yrs old-152lbs- I just had my body fat tested this week in exercise/rehab facility where they submerged me in a large tub of water. I was in there for about 5 minutes blowing air out of my lungs while he yelled, "keep blowing"! My body fat % was 4.8%. My Tanita scale says anywhere from 3.9% to 4.5% depending on the time of day. I would assume that the water test was more accurate.

Actually that test was pretty accurate. It nailed me at 8%.

Man! I did that test and it said I had 22% body fat! I'm 61 years old, 5'10" and 142 Lbs. My Tanita scale says 5% body fat! One of the two is WAY off! Can someone tell me what the problem is?

Thanks

Hi, Brazilian,
What's your gender, height, weight, and body fat? Are you trying to reduce or maintain?

You didn't say.
