Most training plans say...with extra mileage get extra sleep. These are definitely not the blue collar workers. I have been working 12 hour nights most the summer while training for a marathon and running my highest mileage ever, and sleep is what I must give up in order to have the time. I'm only home 9 1/2 hours during the work week, and am a slow runner (11-12 min pace for longer runs) So, there's running, sleeping, cooking, eating, and showering to do in that time. Not to mention I love football, so only get about 2 hours sleep before heading in to work on sun nights.

I work in an auto parts warehouse stocking roters, half-shafts, etc. Walk an average of 12 miles during the night. I do agree with it helping my heat acclimation during the summer...I got used to 100 degree runs after working in a 110 degree warehouse. Anyway, nice to see I'm not alone in being crazy enough to run 10 miles on just 3 hours sleep a day. While I'll probably never win anything other than an age category in a smaller race, nobody will ever be able to question my dedication and passion for running. Run on hard workers!!
