Ex-Smokers support 12/16-12/22

Welcome back ex's! How'd we all do? Smoking wise I"m fine, but sure did miss all of you guys. Sully, Kris, Megs? anybody there? When we last "met" there had been a post from the "dark side of the force tempting us to join him" I was replying to that post when the site went down for re-construction. I don't know if it went through or not so I"m just hoping we didn't lose anybody. :0 The site has obviously changed a little, and I know my "name" changed ( now andytrihard ) but I think the cause is still the same, so lets hear it out there!! :D

Ex- smokers of the world unite!!

I am still doing good. Last week was a pretty rough week for me, and I even tried to smoke a cigarette to relieve some stress. It was NASTY!!! I couldn't even take 3 drags! Does that count as a relapse? I really was not expecting to hate it so much.

Hi Andy!! Thanks for starting us up on the new site.

Cajun, don't feel bad. I am glad to hear you hated the cigarette! I too had a quick relapse after 7 months!

By Thursday I had reached my exploding point. Unlike people who have a job outside their homes and away from their kids, I don't have a day off. I don't go on trips for a week. I don't have anything out of the ordinary to spice up the monotony of playing blocks and cars. And DH gets to travel quite a bit lately leaving me to take care of everything and everyone. And I have volunteered for TOO many things but this base is so small that if I back out, it won't get done. Well, Thursday night at DH's promotion fest, I lost it. Luckily after DH came home he told me to go back since a couple of my friends were still there. And I BUMMED A SMOKE OFF SOMEONE!! I have to admit it felt GREAT! Tasted crappy but FELT great. I only had half because I felt so guilty about letting everyone down. Even my "virtual" friends here. Yes, you all came to my mind. So, I say THANK YOU!! I know it won't happen again because my guilt will do me in.

Have a great run everyone!

Kris

Re: Ex-Smokers support 12/16-12/22

Well, I know I am not smoking again. I am not making a big deal of it. I really thank you guys for being here!

As for the "new" CoolRunning, I don't know what to think. I don't really like it yet. It doesn't fit my screen, 25% of the left side is wasted, I wasn't able to find this place. I literally had to save the specific page under my favorites after finally finding it again, just so I wouldn't lose it again. I do like the Word-type of format for posting and I like that I can preview my text before submitting. Not that I couldn't have just scrolled up on the last board but it's nice to have a last check in place. I will give the site a few weeks before I make a final decision. I am going to check out www.runningahead.com. It seems similar to the old Coolrunning board in terms of ease of navigation and discussions.

Let's keep meeting here. We have a lot to share and support during stressful times is so important. I really mean it when I say I am greatful for this thread. I had never felt the urge to smoke sooo strongly before the other night. Knowing I could come here afterwards was a huge relief. (BTW, I still consider May 14, 2007 my last cigarette.)

YEAH I FOUND YOU GUYS! I came on earlier and never saw the actual coolrunning boards! I posted a ex-smokers post on the active newbie thread and was nervous b/c of all the active people! LOL Hope everyone is doing well!

Re: Ex-Smokers support 12/16-12/22

Hey everyone! Glad we all made it back!

Don't worry about falling off the wagon you guys. It happens. Especially this time of year. We had a big snow storm here in Michigan and for some reason I really felt like smoking. Something about the snow and the quiet night reminded me of sitting outside smoking and enjoying the stillness. Then I remember how cold it was out there and the urge quickly passed. :)

Good luck with the rest of the week!

Hi guys... just saw this and it peaked my interest b/c I have stopped smoking several times in the past year. Just letting you know I might stop by and post some - mostly just need to read your posts and know I'm not alone. It's so frustrating!

Re: Ex-Smokers support 12/16-12/22
I found you! Phew, I am so lost on this site. My weekend was quite stressful. I managed to stay in Friday night, but Saturday I went out, got drunk, and smoked a bit. I woke up hungover and feeling awful. I ran today and felt a little out of it. I slip, but I jump back on. I HATE SMOKING. What I really want is to make it through the **** weekends. I am an angel during the week (no cigs, near perfect diet, excellent exercise routines), but I am a party girl who can't seem to give up my weekend indulgances. Sigh. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I am still going with the no smoking. I am on day 38. Dont worry about slipping up. You all are doing great. The one time I smoked I felt horrible. And I did think about everyone here as well. Everyone is so supportive. It is great. Keep up the good work everyone.

Re: Ex-Smokers support 12/16-12/22

Frangle, why don't you try some Nicorette on the weekends. It helps me because it keeps my mouth busy and it will give you a little kick to keep you away from the cigs. Weekends are tough for me too, especially with my smoking wife. It's not easy being a work out god during the week and a party animal on the weekends. lol I really do feel your pain - hang in there, your getting closer.

Andy thanks for keeping the thread going. I think half the battle is trying to figure out how to use this site.
