Vacation During End of Marathon Training
I am running a marathon on October 21 and I will be going on vacation next weekend. According to my training, my remaining weekend runs are supposed to be 15 this weekend, 20 next weekend, 15, then 10 leading up to the marathon. The only problem is this, I will be going to san diego next saturday so my 20 mile run is supposed to be when I am there. I have never been there nor do I have a good idea where I am going to run when I am there. My wife and I are not getting a rental car, so driving somewhere isn't a really good option. Should I try running 20 this weekend to make sure I get that last 20 in.
My other problem is that I ran 20 last weekend and I don't want to push it running another 20 this weekend, but i really want to make sure I get that last long run in before the marathon. I don't want to ruin my taper but tapering too soon if i run the 20 this week and I dont want to risk injury by running 20 miles back to back weekends. My initial instinct is to try running about 16-18 this weekend and the same next weekend if I can.
The hotel where I am staying at says there is a 3 and 5 mile course somewhere near the hotel, but the hotel is downtown so I am guessing they do not have an actual running course, but that it would be thru the streets and having to wait for crosswalks and such. Any help is appreciated. I have attached a link to the running map from the hotel in san diego.
