Music to run to

I have over 60 songs in my ipod, but i'm looking for more. Pls share your favorite songs to run to.

Some of my "I like the beat and can run to it" are:

Footloose - Kenny Loggins
September - Earth, Wind and Fire
Reach - Gloria Estefan (this one is slow, but inspirational)
Dreams, Right Now - both by Van Halen
Boogie Shoes - KC & the Sunshire Band
Mr. Brightside - The Killers

Lose Yourself - Eminem
This is the Day - The The

Re: Music to run to
Well, you gus looking at it from wrong point of view.

Songs for running should be:
1. You should know the time a song takes, so it is better if they all approximatelly same time
2. The song should match your breathing pattern and the pace you run.
3. Easy to remeber.
4. The words should not make any sense.

Re: Music to run to
I infrequently listen to music while running but if I do I make a specific playlist based on the workout type and duration:

For intervals: I pick short, fast-paced aggressive songs. Metal, punk and industrial music tends to get the blood going.

For longer runs I pick techno/trance music as it's so mindless. Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport and/or a tranceportal podcast do the trick.

"Who Are You" by THe WHo has a GREAT beat to run to - it's almost exactly an 8 min mile pace for my stride.
"Ice Cream Man" by Van Halen
"Los Angeles" by Sugarcult (I think)
"Crazy Bi***" by Buckcherry
"Rock Star" by Nickleback

Re: Music to run to
I really mix it up these days - I used to find fast paced, motivational stuff to get me going...the I discovered my pace was pushed too much to be "comfortable". Now I have everything from "Pain" and "Paralyzer" to Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" and other slower songs.

I'm a group exercise instructor so I started off thinking my music needed to be my pace setter - since we work with beats per minute so much - but now I think of my music as my entertainment and just pick songs I like, no matter what the bpm.

Re: Music to run to
I have only ran with my ipod twice because I heard some people run with it so I decided to try and the result was absolutely disatrous for me. The beat of the songs were screwing up my own breathing and heart rate and I was actually doing a sing-along which isn't very beneficial as I run near busy roads.

However I would say that from that experience, the beat of the songs would play a major role in your breathing. Pick a song with a beat that suits you more and also try not to pick songs that you will naturally sing along. (cause the song's so **** good!)

But personally, I tend to head for a run after a hard day of studying and I usually listen to trance music while I study (and when doing other stuff too actually). When I do my runs, occasionally the trance tunes playback in my mind and some tunes really give that "second wind" feel. Trance really works for me as a motivator in most stuff I guess.

I listen to film music... which is like classical music. For me, film music adds to the environment and the "feel" of my run. However, I also love running without music during the upcoming winter nights.
