Times per week?

I would like to build up my miles, and just get better overall at this running thing. is it a bad idea to try to work up to 5x a week? 4 average days and 1 longer day? right now im doing every other day so if i did 5 times a week some would be in a row.
my next goal is 3 mile runs, no stopping. im at a little over a mile with no stopping.
any advice is greatly APEpreciated!

5x/wk is fine, but take your time building up to it. If you're running every other day now, add a consecutive occasionally so that you're doing 4 days/wk. Then add another when it feels right. For me, 4 days/wk was awkward and naturally gravitated to 2 on / 1 off (alternating 4-5 days/wk).

Five days a week is great. What I will often do when adding sessions is to break down my current mileage into more sessions...so if I was running 5 miles four days a week I would switch to running 4 miles 5 days a week. Then I would build until fairly shortly I would be running 5 miles 5 days a week.
