Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?

Even though I had never shared my log, I got into the old Cool Running site using:

http://www.coolrunning.com/cgi-bin/log/display.cgi?u=myusername

Substitute your username.

You can then export your log from the CoolRunning Tools menu and open it in Excel.

So much for Active Trainer. Screw 'em.

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?

Hey this link worked..at least I got to the point where Ithink the info is being 'transfered'. Now I'll do the 'hold breath' routine.

Thanks for the hints.

Ella, did it convert over your other sport workouts???

It didn't for me. It seems to have lost workout data.

Nope. No paddling workouts have come across. I at least have all my data saved in excel, but it was nice being able to go to a chosen week from last year and compare to this year, or compare total mileage for this year versus last year in each sport. I also have most workouts from around May onwards in SportsTracks. But I liked the CR log too!! I'm not surprised that data was lost in the transfer - I backed up incase, but I am surprised that it's lost simply because they only accomodate some sports. I can't even add the data back into the new log, as there is nowhere to put it!

Will have to check out some of these other logs.

Ella :)

So far, RunningAHEAD.com is looking really good to me. Quite similar to the Cool Running site. The admin, Eric, can import your log file if you ask. Plus it has an export feature so one doesn't have to work about lock-in in future months/years.

Eric over at www.runningahead.com did a perfect job importing my data. All far as I know, all fields were importered properly, right down to the weather types! Give it a try. What's there to lose?

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?
Ok, I keep trying everyone's suggestions as to how to get the old data from CR, but it's just not working for me. I cut and paste the link in, put in my username and password and it just goes to a page that says "username and password not recognized." Is anyone else having this trouble?

I know that CR was "free" so we're not supposed to complain, but c'mon, if I had been given any idea that the new site was going to be like this I probably would have gladly paid a fee to keep CR.

The biggest problems I have encountered thus far:

1. Takes forever to figure out where the new log is. I eventually get to it, but can't remember how each time, it's not straightforward at all.

2. Half my workouts are labeled as "missed workouts" or "planned workouts." What the heck does that mean? I did the run, entered it, and later it shows up as "missed."

3. Is there a way to jump back to my workouts from five years ago? All I've been able to do is scroll back one month at a time which takes freaking forever.

4. Perhaps my biggest disappointment is that all of my heart rate data is not there. I'm one of those HR runners where I wear a monitor on each workout and religiously record my average for the workout (and max if I'm doing intervals or something like that.) For me, this was great data to gauge my fitness and guide my training. It's not there now. And in the new log there is no place to record the average and max. They do have something for recording % of time in certain ranges, etc. Way too complex and weird.

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?

I was able to find and download my old coolrunning log, thanks to Chris1234008. I tried logging a few runs on active and agree that it sucks.

I'll start 2008 fresh on another website. Thanks to all of you who researched and recommended other online running logs. Goodbye and good riddance coolrunning and active. It was fun while it lasted.

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?

I used the URL and got right into my old log -- THANKS for the best tip so far! I cannot believe how lame this Active partnership is. Even posting this reply was cumbersome. Had to log in twice and find my way back to the discussion thread, which fueled my frustration and anger. I won't be coming back. And HOW in GOD's NAME do I unsubscribe from this thread? My inbox has been jammed with responses for two days now!

If you want your CR data imported into a new log, it looks like it is possible to do it at http://www.runningahead.com/

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?

Ok, so none of those tips seem to work for me. I've tried every combination, permutation, but I keep getting the message that member name / password combination is not correct. (even though, I know it is). Can everyone else still get on via this, or perhaps they have closed the loophole? I sent the coolrunning people an email basically begging for access to my log just so I can transfer the information to running2win.com which is able to import all the data into their own log.

If that doesn't work, does anyone know if i can export data from active.com? I seem to have most if not all of my data here, but i obviously don't want to use the site. Is there an export function? Does anyone know about this?

regards,

dt

If you cannot log in using the approach mentioned earlier in this thread, I found an alternative method and posted it here:

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?
We have made all attempts to make the Cool Running data log migration process as simple and complete as possible. If you would like to transfer your data, please follow these steps:

1) Go to www.ActiveTrainer.com and log in with your Active Network's user account and password.

2) The system will direct you to a Merge account page and tell you that your account was upgraded by CoolRunning.com. Click the button, "Create an Account".

3) The system will direct you to the Import data page, where you can opt to transfer your Cool Running data to Active Trainer. Click on the "Transfer my Data" button to begin the Cool Running data transfer. If you choose not to import your data at this time, you can always go to the My Account Settings page and transfer your data later.

4) If you opted to transfer your data, depending on how much data you've logged in Cool Running, the process can take anywhere from 4 to 24 hours to complete. In the meantime, you can begin using the Active Trainer features and tools.

5) Once the transfer of data is complete, you will find your Cool Running data in the calendar and Shoe Tracker.

Please let us know if you have any other questions!

Re: so where do I find my Cool Running log?
Bring back the coolrunning log - the Active Trainer log is useless. Runners like to track their mileage and pace on a weekly and monthly basis - as well as their personal best times at all distances run. What is a planned run? Why do I have to log a planned run and then mark I have completed it? What Einstein thought this up as a way to log runs?

I never lost data at coolrunning.com - and I never saw anyone post about problems with the site.

I have let your management team know how I feel. Yes, this is a free site - and I can easily move on.

But you made an investment as a company. For you it's real money that you are losing.....

Thank You Janinsanfran!!!!!!! I had a lot of memories that I though were gone forever. Interestingly, I was able to use the old log and update my weekend runs before exporting. I wonder if this portal to the glorious past will remain viable???
